Salary: $50,000-$70,000

About the Opportunity

Aeolus Staffing Solutions is recruiting a Junior Dewatering Estimator / Project Coordinator on behalf of an established company specializing in construction dewatering and groundwater-management solutions.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an educational or early-career background in civil engineering, environmental engineering, geological engineering, hydrogeology or geotechnical studies.

Previous dewatering experience is an asset, but it is not mandatory. Our client is prepared to provide extensive training to someone who has a strong technical foundation, a practical mindset and a genuine interest in learning the industry.

What You’ll Be Doing

Working alongside experienced estimators, engineers and project professionals, you will help review project information and develop practical dewatering solutions for construction projects.

Your responsibilities will include

- Reviewing hydrogeological and geotechnical reports, construction drawings, specifications and project documents
- Interpreting groundwater levels, soil conditions, excavation depths and proposed construction activities
- Assisting with the preparation of budget quotations, estimates and technical proposals
- Helping identify appropriate dewatering methods, equipment and treatment requirements
- Reviewing project drawings, charts, site plans and technical information
- Supporting the development of project scopes, assumptions, exclusions and pricing
- Communicating with clients, contractors, consultants and internal project teams

- Requesting and organizing information required to prepare accurate quotations
- Assisting with equipment, labour, transportation and material cost estimates
- Participating in site visits when required
- Maintaining organized project files, quotation records and supporting documentation
- Following up on submitted quotations and assisting with project handovers
- Developing an understanding of applicable environmental requirements and groundwater-discharge considerations

What We’re Looking For

- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydrogeology, Construction Engineering Technology or a related discipline
- Approximately 0–3 years of relevant experience; recent graduates with strong technical aptitude are encouraged to apply
- Ability to read and understand technical reports, drawings, tables and site plans
- General understanding of soil, groundwater, excavation or construction concepts
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable asking questions and acknowledging areas where further learning is required
- Organized, dependable and attentive to detail
- Practical problem-solving ability and willingness to learn
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-moving environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to attend project sites when required

Assets Experience or exposure in any of the following areas would be beneficial:

- Construction dewatering
- Groundwater monitoring
- Hydrogeological or geotechnical consulting
- Sump-and-pump or well-point systems
- Water treatment and discharge
- Environmental fieldwork
- Civil construction or underground utilities
- Technical estimating, quotations or proposals
- AutoCAD or construction drawing review
- Ontario environmental requirements related to groundwater takings and discharge

Who Will Succeed in This Role? You do not need to know everything about dewatering when you join. The successful candidate will be someone who is technically curious, honest about what they know, willing to ask questions and able to absorb new information quickly.

Our client has a comprehensive training process and is looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career in this specialized industry.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

- Extensive hands-on training from experienced industry professionals
- Exposure to technical estimating, engineering and construction operations
- Opportunity to work on varied infrastructure and development projects
- Supportive, practical and team-oriented working environment
- Long-term professional growth within a specialized industry
- Competitive compensation based on education and experience

How to Apply Please apply with an updated résumé outlining your education, technical experience and any exposure to groundwater, geotechnical work, environmental projects, civil construction or estimating.

Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a brief technical-comprehension exercise as part of the selection process.
