Role Overview

This position is for someone who takes real pride in getting the details right - because in hardscaping, the details are the job. A patio or retaining wall only holds up if the base compaction, grading, and leveling were done properly the first time.

- You'll be part of a crew responsible for building projects correctly from the ground up: base prep, layout, installation, and cleanup. Every site is a little different - odd grades, roots, drainage surprises - so we're looking for someone who can think through a problem on the spot rather than needing every situation walked through for them.
- If you have strong spatial sense, don't mind repetitive precision work, stay steady through a physical day, and speak up when something's not right instead of covering it up, you'll do well here.

Key Responsibilities:
- Install hardscape features such as pavers, retaining walls, steps, and edge restraints
- Perform excavation, base prep, compaction, grading, and drainage work
- Read job plans and translate measurements into accurate on-site layout
- Self-check work as you go - level, grade, spacing - rather than catching issues after the fact
- Use tools and equipment safely and correctly
- Keep the job site clean, organized, and professional
- Flag problems to the crew lead proactively (e.g., a base that isn't compacting right) rather than working around them
- Adapt to unexpected site conditions (roots, drainage issues, grade changes) and solve problems without needing constant direction
- Complete work that meets quality, safety, and durability expectations

What We're Looking For:




- Strong spatial reasoning - can look at a plan or a slope and picture how it comes together in 3D
- Precision-oriented - double-checks work rather than eyeballing it
- Patient with repetitive, exacting tasks (setting and leveling paver after paver)
- Comfortable with sustained physical labor outdoors in heat, cold, and all weather in between
- Dependable and punctual - shows up consistently, every time
- Takes direction well, but isn't afraid to raise a concern when something's off
- Safety-conscious, especially around excavation and retaining wall work

Requirements:
- 1+ years of experience in landscaping, hardscaping, or construction
- Ability to perform physical work outdoors in varying conditions
- Solid understanding of measurements, levels, and layout
- Reliable transportation to job sites
- Willingness to work as part of a structured team

Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with paver systems or retaining walls
- Familiarity with compaction and drainage best practices
- Experience using plate compactors, saws, or skid steers
