Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Lead Laminate Countertop Installer to join our Courtenay team.

This position is responsible for safely delivering and professionally installing laminate countertops and related components in customers’ homes and on commercial job sites. As one of the final representatives our customers meet, the Lead Installer plays an important role in ensuring quality workmanship and a positive customer experience.

The Lead Installer also supports the development of the installation team by training, coaching, and providing practical guidance to new installers.

Colonial Countertops provides a company vehicle, fuel, and all tools required for the position.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

- Review daily work orders, drawings, measurements, and installation requirements before leaving the shop.
- Inspect countertops for correct dimensions, quality, and completeness before loading.
- Safely load, secure, transport, and unload countertops and installation materials.
- Protect customers’ homes, job sites, flooring, walls, cabinetry, and other property from damage.
- Install laminate countertops and related components accurately and efficiently.
- Complete seams, cutouts, joints, and fixture installations to established quality standards.
- Confirm that countertops are level, secure, properly fitted, and finished.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve installation challenges professionally.
- Communicate job-site concerns, deficiencies, or required follow-up work promptly.




- Maintain a clean and organized work area and leave each job site clean after installation.
- Provide customers with skilled, respectful, and helpful service throughout the installation.
- Complete accurate installation reports, including required comments and photographs, at the end of each workday.
- Train, coach, and support new installers in installation methods, safe work practices, quality standards, and customer service expectations.
- Participate in improving installation processes, workflow, quality, and efficiency.
- Maintain the company vehicle, tools, equipment, and supplies in clean and serviceable condition.
- Follow all company policies, safe work procedures, and personal protective equipment requirements.
- Maintain current professional and technical knowledge.
- Contribute to the team and complete other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

- Experience installing laminate countertops or performing similar finish-installation work.
- Experience in countertop installation, cabinetry, millwork, finish carpentry, renovations, or construction is an asset.
- Strong practical skills and the ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Ability to read measurements, work orders, drawings, and installation instructions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Professional communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to train, coach, and provide constructive guidance to less-experienced team members.
- Ability to organize work,



manage changing priorities, and perform effectively under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an installation team.
- Knowledge of safe material-handling and installation practices.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including regularly lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Team lifting and appropriate equipment must be used for heavier or awkward materials.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour
