Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy-duty trucks over long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo
- Conduct routine inspections of the vehicle before and after trips, including checking brakes, tires, lights, and fluid levels
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, mileage logs, and freight manifests
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules or any issues encountered during transit
- Perform minor automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to ensure vehicle reliability
- Follow safety protocols at all times, including proper use of personal protective equipment and securement of loads
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Proven experience in commercial driving, especially long-haul routes
- Proficiency in operating forklifts and other heavy equipment used for freight handling
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety standards for transporting goods over long distances
- Ability to perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting when necessary
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail for accurate record keeping
- Physical stamina to handle loading/unloading tasks and long hours on the road
