About the Role

We’re building a new Maintenance team at Central Smith, and we’re looking for people who are excited to help build it with us.

As Central Smith continues to grow, so does the equipment, technology, and infrastructure behind our operation. We are investing in our Maintenance department and creating a team focused on keeping our facility running safely, efficiently, and reliably.

As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll be joining this team from the ground up. That means you won’t just be responsible for fixing and maintaining equipment, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape how our current team works, share ideas, establish strong maintenance practices, and build a great working relationship with Production and Operations.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving problems, learning, and working alongside others. Whether it’s troubleshooting an unexpected breakdown, completing preventive maintenance, or finding a better way to do something, you’ll play an important role in building the Maintenance team we want for the future.

And, of course, you’ll be doing it all in an ice cream factory.

What You’ll Be Doing

As part of our new Maintenance team, you will:

- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production and facility equipment.
- Jump in when equipment breaks down, diagnose the problem, and help get production safely back up and running.
- Complete preventive and scheduled maintenance to help us stay ahead of breakdowns.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Inspect equipment, replace worn or damaged parts, and complete testing and adjustments.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, drawings,

schematics, and work orders.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and preventive maintenance logs.
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and material handling equipment.
- Assist with general facility maintenance, including basic plumbing and carpentry.
- Identify and communicate equipment deficiencies, safety concerns, and unusual operating conditions.
- Help keep the maintenance shop and work areas clean, organized, and ready for the next job.
- Work closely with Production, Operations, and other departments to solve problems and improve how we operate.
- Bring forward ideas and help develop processes, standards, and best practices for our new Maintenance team.
- Share knowledge, support your teammates, and help create a positive team culture from the beginning.
- Pitch in wherever needed — no two days in manufacturing are exactly the same.

Safety Comes First Keeping our people safe is always the priority. In this role, you will:
- Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Wear required PPE and follow facility attire and food safety requirements.
- Report incidents, hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Use safe work practices when troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment.

- Look out for yourself and the people working around you.

What We’re Looking For Because we’re building a new team, we’re looking for more than technical ability. We want people who are willing to communicate, share what they know, learn from others, and help us create a strong Maintenance department.

Ideally, you have:

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Millwright Certification (433A) or equivalent experience/qualifications.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to communicate and work well with Maintenance, Production, and Operations teams.
- A willingness to learn, share knowledge, and help build better ways of doing things.
- A team-first attitude and an interest in being part of building something new.

What It’s Like to Work Here This is a hands-on manufacturing setting, so you’ll be moving throughout the facility, standing, walking, lifting, working around industrial equipment, and responding when something needs attention.

Some days will be planned preventive maintenance. Other days, a machine will have different plans.

If you like fixing things, figuring out why something isn’t working, and the idea of helping build a new team rather than simply stepping into an established one, we’d love to have you be part of it.
