Reporting to the Director, Internal Communications & Employee Engagement, the Manager, Internal Communications supports the delivery of global communications with a focus on communication tools and technologies and executive communications support for Great West.
In close partnership with Global HR, the role focuses on communication planning and measurement, execution excellence, employee engagement delivery, and operational leadership within the Office of the CEO.
Role Purpose
This role supports the Director in delivering high-quality, consistent, and timely corporate and CEO communications for Great West, ensuring plans land clearly and effectively with employees and leaders. The role is a key contributor for the current Great West internal communications function, helping turn strategy into action.
Key Accountabilities
- Deliver c-suite and enterprise-wide communications
- Execute employee engagement activities, campaigns, and communications for Great West colleagues globally i.e. town halls, leader forums and other employee events aimed at improving engagement and creating sense of pride
- Coordinate communications across global regions and business segments, ensuring consistency of messaging while accommodating regional needs and cultural considerations
- With a high degree of autonomy, manage internal communication tools / channels, content calendar, and cadence
- Works in partnership with HR, Legal, Risk, Finance and Investor Relations and segment / regional communication leads, as well as Canada Life Communications & Marketing teams to ensure consistency of identity and tone where required
Experience and Capability Requirements
- A tech-savvy communicator with demonstrated experience managing internal communications tools and technologies including SharePoint, Viva Engage, email distribution tools, newsletter design tools etc.
- Proficiency and comfort in creating polished, visually appealing, professional PowerPoint presentations
- Exceptional coordination and organizational skills with a focus on documentation, process, execution, and delivery discipline
- Knowledge of artificial intelligence tools and trends, with an appreciation for how they can enhance productivity, communication, and business outcomes
- Ability to operate effectively in rapid‑paced, ambiguous environment with a strong appreciation for time sensitive delivery
- Strong writing skills with proven experience translating strategic narratives into concise, compelling employee-ready content
- Sound judgement handling sensitive information and a comfort level dealing with senior leadership
- 5-10 years of experience in corporate or internal communications
Operational leadership
- Manage planning, production, and supplier coordination (design, video, presentations)
- Provide leadership for communication processes, governance, and best practices.
- Help navigate and manage distribution lists in a complex global workplace
The base salary for this position is between $86,600 - $144,300 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
