The Opportunity

Join a high-impact tax operations team in a leadership role focused on modernizing Canadian tax reporting. You’ll combine deep technical tax knowledge with people leadership, process transformation, and technology enablement to strengthen the accuracy, efficiency, and governance of tax reporting operations.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, leading change, and partnering across business and technology teams to turn regulatory requirements into practical, scalable processes.

What You’ll Do

- Lead the ongoing evolution of Canadian tax slip reporting, serving as the subject matter expert for processes, controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Take ownership of the end-to-end tax reporting lifecycle, from data and workflow design through production, validation, and regulatory filing.
- Monitor developments in federal and provincial tax legislation and translate changes into business processes, systems, controls, and reporting requirements.
- Ensure tax filings are accurate, timely, compliant, and aligned with applicable CRA, provincial, and industry requirements.
- Drive process improvement and automation initiatives, partnering with technology teams to identify opportunities, define requirements, and implement more efficient solutions.
- Map and document reporting workflows, data flows, controls, and governance processes to improve transparency and operational resilience.
- Serve as a senior escalation point for complex tax reporting matters, investigating issues and developing practical solutions.
- Establish and enhance internal controls, documentation,



and governance frameworks surrounding tax-related processes.
- Lead projects involving tax reporting enhancements, regulatory changes, system implementations, and operational transformation.
- Communicate progress, risks, recommendations, and strategic considerations to senior and executive stakeholders.
- Build solid relationships across tax, operations, technology, finance, and other business functions.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team by setting clear objectives, providing feedback, supporting career development, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Stay informed on emerging tax practices and industry developments through professional networks, peer organizations, and industry forums.

What You Bring

- 5+ years of experience in taxation, public accounting, financial services, insurance, or a related environment, including significant experience in a senior analytical or technical capacity.
- Robust knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial tax legislation and reporting requirements.
- Hands-on familiarity with Canadian tax slips and information reporting, including T5, T3, NR4, and applicable provincial RL forms.
- Experience interpreting regulatory changes and translating them into operational, system, and process requirements.




- Demonstrated experience leading teams, mentoring employees, or providing technical and operational leadership.
- Strong understanding of process mapping, governance documentation, internal controls, and automation opportunities.
- Excellent analytical, research, investigation, and problem-solving abilities, with a strong focus on accuracy and detail.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, make sound decisions, and develop practical solutions to complex issues.
- Strong accounting, taxation, and mathematical skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to engage effectively with senior leadership.
- University degree or equivalent education with relevant coursework in accounting, taxation, business, finance, mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting or insurance designations such as CPA or FLMI are considered an asset.
- Strong proficiency with standard business productivity, spreadsheet, database, presentation, and reporting tools.
- Professional fluency in English is required for roles involving communication with customers, advisors, employees, or stakeholders across Canada.

Compensation

- The compensation for this position includes $120-150k base salary and 8% annual bonus.
