Lavande de Miel is a small-batch bakery and handmade goods business known for our French-botanical, lavender-and-honey-gold aesthetic and our signature free-sample market experience. Join our team as a Market & Kitchen Assistant and help us create a welcoming, memorable experience for every customer who stops by our booth — while picking up hands-on skills in baking, food handling, and market operations along the way. We're growing our market presence across the region and looking for a reliable, hands-on Market & Kitchen Assistant to join us on an on-call basis.

About the Role

This is a adaptable, on-call, part-time position supporting both our farmers'-market/pop-up booth setup and our kitchen production days. Shifts vary week to week depending on our market and baking schedule, and may fall on mornings, afternoons, evenings, or occasional overnights.

What You'll Do

At Markets:

- Arrive at the market location at least 1.5 hours before start time
- Help set up the booth, displays, signage, and product
- Check and log cooler temperatures to ensure safe food handling
- Serve customers with enthusiasm, offering a friendly and welcoming experience (including our signature free samples!) and handling sales
- Pack down, clean, and break down the booth at the end of the day

In the Kitchen:

- Assist with baking, food prep, and packaging of cookies, cupcakes, cinnamon buns, and other bakery items
- Help organize ingredients, tools, and supplies, and keep kitchen and packaging areas clean throughout the shift
- Follow food safety and sanitation practices set by public health authorities and company policy
- Work closely with the team to keep production running smoothly, especially ahead of busy market days





General:

- Other duties as assigned, consistent with the role

What We're Looking For
- Valid food handler certification (or willingness to obtain one before your first shift)
- Valid Ontario G2 or G driver's licence in good standing
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Comfortable with a flexible, on-call schedule — shifts aren't guaranteed in number or frequency, and you're never obligated to accept a shift you can't work
- Friendly, customer-facing attitude and reliability under a fast-paced market setting
- Good communication skills and ability to work well with a small team
- Willingness to learn new skills in baking, food handling, and market service
- Prior food service, baking, or market/retail experience is an asset but not required

Pay & Details
- $17.65/hour
- Paid bi-weekly, plus 4% vacation pay
- Paid for all approved hours, including setup and clean-up
- On-call, part-time — great for students or anyone looking for flexible hours
