About Us
S-FAB Fabrication Inc. is a sister company to Safety Power Inc.; a leading Canadian cleantech company, supplying to the data centre industry. Our equipment removes nitrogen oxides, particulates and other harmful emissions most commonly for diesel engines used for backup power; end users of our systems include Amazon, Google and Microsoft.
Scope of the Position The Mechanical Assembler is an integral part of the team and is responsible for assembling and testing various injector and damper components and assemblies for internal and external customers.
Main Responsibilities & Duties
- Assembly, testing and shipment of various internal and external customer injectors and damper assemblies as per technical specifications.
- Apply applicable labels, tags and identifications as per technical specifications.
- Update the system with all states of various manufacturing processes of injector and damper assemblies.
- Identify and resolve any technical issues or malfunctions that may arise during assembly and testing.
- Assist with inventory control and ordering, material handling and component organization alerting to any foreseeable shortage.
- Ensure component quality inspection is performed prior to any assembly or testing work commencing, reporting and documenting all quality concerns.
- Advise Mechanical Team when external customer injector and damper assemblies are completed and ready for inspection and shipment.
- Initiate and works on assigned Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP’s) to drive Safety, Quality and Productivity improvements.
- Assist the team in new product launches (i.e. coordinating training program and carrying out training of plant employees).
- Ensure injector and damper assemblies are completed in accordance with set timelines in dashboard.
- Promote a strong safety culture,
enforcing safety protocols to ensure a protected working environment for all staff.
- Perform all work in a safe manner in compliance with Company specifications, including all local, provincial and federal regulations (OSHA, ESA, CSA, etc.) Immediately report unsafe conditions to Manager/Supervisor within the department.
- Other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor.
Qualifications
- Assemble injector and damper assemblies according to technical specifications and work instructions, using hand and power tools.
- Post-secondary diploma in mechanical or a related field required.
- Reading and understanding technical drawings.
- An effective self-starter who is positive and professional including proactive with a desire to suggest improvements to existing processes and systems.
- Flexible to work extended hours, when required, to comply with time sensitive deadlines.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate and interact well with people in all departments.
- Good leadership, problem solving, and analytical skills.
Job Demands & Working Conditions:
- Production/manufacturing environment.
- Stand, walk and sit throughout entire shift.
- Effectively perform in a fast-paced environment, and sometimes high stress situations.
- Occasionally required to lift and handle heavy objects, climb or balance; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to moderate to loud noise and vibration levels.
- Required to wear PPE (safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs are required). Exposure to welding fumes and dust, as well as air born insulation, for which masks are available.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $28.00-$30.00 per hour
