The Opportunity

We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer with strong industry experience who enjoys solving practical engineering problems and wants broad exposure across technical, operational, and commercial aspects of a growing engineering business.

Based in Canada, this role will be the primary engineering resource supporting our local overhaul and repair operations. Working alongside a skilled team of technicians, you'll provide engineering leadership, technical decision-making, and operational support while taking ownership of engineering activities across the site.

Although you will be the sole engineer on-site, you won't be working alone. You'll collaborate closely with Rotation's wider engineering team based in New Zealand, contributing to shared projects, technical investigations, component repairs, tooling improvements, and operational problem-solving across the business.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys autonomy, is comfortable working independently, and is excited by the challenge of helping establish and grow engineering capability in Canada while leveraging the support of a highly experienced international team.

Your mission – should you choose to accept it In this role you'll balance hands-on engineering support with technical leadership. You'll work closely with technicians and operational leaders in Canada while maintaining strong connections with the wider engineering team in New Zealand. You'll be trusted to work independently, make sound engineering decisions, and know when to engage the broader team for support and collaboration. You will:

- Act as the primary engineering point of contact for the Canadian workshop, in collaboration with the Current Zealand based engineering team
- Support sales engineering with technical inputs and parts pricing
- Assist planning & project management with schedules and materials procurement
- Help define and document scope of work
- Support component repair assessments and documentation




- Review BOMs and support procurement decisions for cost and speed
- Support tooling design, continuous improvement initiatives and facilities engineering
- Contribute to parts development
- Get involved with technical report writing
- Provide hands-on technical support to overhaul operations

About You

You are a capable Mechanical Engineer who enjoys taking ownership and solving problems in practical, fast-paced environments. You can adapt to changing priorities and are motivated by the opportunity to help build and improve engineering capability within a growing business. You are equally comfortable working on-site with technicians and collaborating with engineers and leaders across multiple locations.

You’ll need

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or closely related discipline
- Several years’ experience in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, repair or related industrial environments
- Ability to work autonomously and make sound engineering decisions with confidence
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, particularly in remote-working environments
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across multiple locations
- A proactive, self-directed approach with the ability to establish and improve systems and processes

Desirable:
- Experience working in a sole-charge or highly autonomous engineering role
- Experience in project-based, build-heavy engineering environments
- Exposure to manufacturing, motorsport, aerospace or mechanical systems
- Practical mechanical experience whether through workshops, internships or personal projects
- Experience using AI, automation, software development, or digital tools to improve engineering workflows, solve technical problems, and drive operational improvements
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to work across technical, operational and commercial boundaries
- Willingness to engage with and learn directly from senior technical leaders
