Reporting to the Director of Mental Health and Addictions, the Mental Health Manager leads the planning, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of accessible, integrated, family-centered mental health services throughout the Athabasca Basin.

· Lead staff, contractors, and students through recruitment, orientation, scheduling, performance management, development, wellness, and succession planning.

· Plan, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate accessible services based on community needs, feedback, data, clinical guidance, resources, and AHA priorities.

· Ensure equitable access, appropriate coverage and caseloads, effective referrals, wait-list monitoring, follow-up, continuity, and coordinated transitions.

· Develop work plans, schedules, objectives, and measures; identify service gaps and implement culturally grounded, evidence-informed improvements.

· Promote person-centred, family-inclusive, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, culturally safe, ethical, and professionally compliant practice.

· Maintain quality and safety systems for consent, privacy, documentation, risk and safety planning, incidents, complaints, audits, corrective action, and accreditation.

· Lead interdisciplinary care planning, referrals, information sharing, and partnerships with health, education, social service, justice, emergency, community, and funding partners.





· Engage Athabasca Basin communities, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, clients, and families in program design, evaluation, prevention, and wellness initiatives.

· Ensure services reflect Dene culture, local protocols, traditional and land-based wellness, reconciliation, equity, inclusion, and remote northern realities.

· Manage budgets, contracts, resources, records, procedures, and reporting, and support funding, strategy, policy, emergency preparedness, audits, and improvement.

· Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related behavioural science.

· Three to five years of recent managerial/clinical experience.

· Current good-standing registration or membership with an applicable professional regulatory body or association.

· Approval as a mental health therapist through the Non-Insured Health Benefits program.

· Dene language proficiency and northern or remote First Nations experience are assets.

· Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
