About System Equine
System Equine is a Canadian-owned company specializing in the design and manufacture of premium equine products.
As our operations continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced MIG Welder to join our production team at our Fergus manufacturing facility.
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, works safely and efficiently, and enjoys being part of a collaborative production environment.
The Opportunity
As a MIG Welder, you will be responsible for welding and fabricating steel components and assemblies used in our product lines.
You will work from work orders, engineered drawings, blueprints, and production specifications while ensuring completed work meets System Equine’s quality and safety standards.
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, follows established processes, maintains a high standard of quality, and supports the people around them.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform MIG/GMAW welding of steel parts, components, and assemblies.
- Work confidently with steel ranging from 14-gauge to 3/4-inch thickness.
- Read, interpret, and follow work orders, engineered drawings, blueprints, and process specifications.
- Complete fit-up, tack welding, welding, grinding, and finishing of fabricated components as required.
- Use appropriate measuring tools to verify dimensions and accuracy.
- Inspect completed welds and finished components to ensure quality requirements are met.
- Maintain consistent weld quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Follow established production procedures and safe work practices.
- Work efficiently and independently with minimal supervision.
- Collaborate with other production team members to meet production schedules and priorities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Identify and communicate quality, equipment, or production concerns promptly.
- Participate in cross-training and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work overtime when required.
What We’re Looking For
- 2–3+ years of MIG welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or similar production environment preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to produce clean, consistent, high-quality MIG welds.
- Experience reading engineered drawings, blueprints, and fabrication specifications.
- Strong understanding of measurements, dimensions, and fabrication accuracy.
- Experience with fit-up, assembly, grinding, and finishing of welded components.
- Welding certifications are considered an asset but are not required. Demonstrated welding ability and practical experience are important to us.
- Laser welding experience is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining good attendance.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team environment.
- Robust organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to learn, follow established procedures, and take responsibility for the quality of completed work.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements This position is performed in an active manufacturing and fabrication environment.
Candidates must be able to:
- Stand, bend, crouch, reach, and move for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Perform repetitive physical tasks associated with welding and fabrication.
- Regularly handle materials and components weighing up to approximately 50 lbs and occasionally up to 70 lbs, using appropriate lifting techniques or assistance where required.
- Work safely around welding equipment, machinery, noise, fumes, sparks, and other conditions normally associated with a fabrication environment.
- Wear required personal protective equipment and follow all workplace health and safety procedures.
Schedule & Position Details
- Permanent, full-time position
- Four-day workweek
- Monday–Thursday
- 6:30 AM–5:00 PM
- Located at our Fergus, Ontario manufacturing facility
- $22.00–$27.00 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated skill
- Opportunities for overtime when required

Candidates must be able to reliably commute to our Fergus facility for their scheduled shifts.

- MIG welding technique
- Weld quality and consistency
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to follow drawings and production specifications
- General fabrication skills relevant to the position
