Title: Municipal Works Operator – Solid Waste Collection
Pay Grid: Operator 2
Position Requirements:
· Must have and maintain a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and may be required to have or obtain a Class 3 Alberta Driver’s License with air brakes endorsement depending on the needs of the department and Town
· Must be in valuable physical condition and may be required to successfully perform a physical ability test
· Must have 3 years’ experience in a related field
· Grade 12 diploma or GED
· Must have the ability to work diligently within Town policies and procedures
· Must be able to demonstrate satisfactory ability to operate a variety of equipment that is utilized in a municipal environment
· Must have work or personal experience that would demonstrate the ability to work independently and unsupervised, show self-motivation, and to demonstrate sound judgement and decision-making abilities
· Ability to take initiative to identify and report problems

Responsibilities:
· To maintain a valid class 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement.
· To operate the Town’s tandem axel, side load, solid waste collection truck for the purpose of collecting commercial and residential waste in both roll out carts and steel bins.
· Have knowledge in operations of dump trucks, wheel loaders, skid steers etc.
· Have knowledge in regulations related to the operation of commercial vehicles, traffic laws, and solid waste collection.
· Maintain a willingness to collect data on waste disposal trends throughout the year in order to make recommendations on future waste diversion initiatives.
· Participate in the delivery of programs and services related to the Town’s solid waste and recycling initiatives as required.
· To perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on solid waste bins and carts as required.
· To perform routine maintenance and daily pre-trip inspections on equipment as required by the organization.
· Reporting issues with equipment to Fleet Services.
· Being observant of and reporting issues with lanes, traffic signs, streets, overhanging trees, etc. to Municipal Works Manager.
· Ensures that a positive image is portrayed to the public indicating the municipality’s commitment to excellence in service for the residents of the Town of Redcliff.
· Will be responsible for ensuring active participation in all health and safety programs and policies as deemed appropriate by the organization.
· Required to participate in a rotating schedule for after-hours standby and call-out duties.
· To perform other related duties as assigned by Manager.
This position is a Temporary Position from October 2026- December 2026 ( Possibly longer depending on Work Availability)
