We are seeking a dependable and proactive On Call Snow Shoveler to join our team during the winter months. This role is essential in ensuring safe and accessible pathways, driveways, and outdoor areas during snow and ice conditions. As an On Call Snow Shoveler, you will respond promptly to weather alerts, clearing snow and ice to maintain safety and operational efficiency.
This position offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to contribute to a safe environment for staff, clients, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Respond quickly to snow and ice accumulation alerts, ensuring timely removal from walkways, driveways, and outdoor work areas
- Use hand tools such as shovels, brooms, and ice scrapers to clear snow and ice effectively
- Operate power tools like snow blowers or small machinery when necessary to expedite snow removal processes
- Apply salt or de-icing materials to prevent ice formation and enhance safety on surfaces
- Conduct routine inspections of outdoor areas after storms to identify remaining hazards or icy patches
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas by removing snow from entry points, stairs,
and pathways
- Communicate with team members or supervisors regarding weather conditions or additional needs for snow removal
Skills
- Experience with hand tools such as shovels, brooms, and ice scrapers
- Mechanical knowledge related to small power tools and snow removal equipment
- Ability to operate light machinery like snow blowers or small excavators if needed
- Strong physical stamina for prolonged outdoor work in cold weather conditions
- Basic understanding of construction or maintenance work related to outdoor environments
- Excellent attention to safety procedures when handling equipment and working on icy surfaces
