JOB SUMMARY

Contrada is seeking a Pasta Chef (Pastaio/Pastaia) to join our kitchen team, with a primary focus on the production of our fresh, handmade pasta.

An already beloved but ever-evolving neighbourhood restaurant in Little Italy, Contrada is dedicated to thoughtful, modern Italian cuisine with a focus on quality, seasonality, and craftsmanship.

This is primarily a pasta-making and production role. We’re looking for someone who enjoys the craft and repetition of making pasta and can work with consistency, precision, and care.

The position is currently part-time at 3–4 days per week. For a candidate with strong kitchen knowledge who wants to take on additional daytime prep responsibilities, we are open to developing the role into a full-time position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Produce fresh pasta for restaurant service according to the Chef’s specifications and standards
- Prepare and portion pasta fillings as required
- Maintain consistency in dough texture, thickness, shape, weight, and portioning
- Organize pasta production according to service needs and pars
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary pasta production area

QUALIFICATIONS

- 2+ years of experience as a pasta cook in a professional kitchen is required
- Knowledge of pasta doughs, filled and unfilled pasta, shaping, portioning,



and production techniques
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of daily pasta production
- A genuine passion for cooking and a desire to build a long-term career in restaurants
- Strong understanding of food preparation techniques and kitchen organization
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to consistency
- Strong communication skills and a cooperative attitude
- Ability to take direction, work independently when needed, and contribute positively to the team
- Available to work 3-4 morning shifts a week
