Payroll Administrator
Full-time, Temporary (12-month Contract)
This position can be based out of Richmond, BC, Brossard, QC, or in Alberta The Payroll Administrator works within the payroll & HR administrative team to ensure the timely and accurate processing of payroll for over 1000 employees in Canada and the US. This is a challenging position which involves multiple union agreements and pay frequencies. The ability to prioritize and pay attention to detail is highly significant.
A positive attitude and friendly customer service are essential. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a complex payroll environment using a variety of software tools, is well organized, and enjoys a fast paced work environment.
Responsibilities
- Process payrolls for Canada and US locations as assigned
- Remit 3 rd -party payments including pension, workers compensation premiums, union dues and etc.
- Process year-end activities including reconciliations and issuance of tax forms including T4, W2 and T2200.
- Back-up and support for other team members
- Supporting payroll and time system testing
- Communicate with ADP Client Services to resolve issues
- Liaise with finance department for funding and journal entry requirements
- Respond to employee inquiries and requests
- Respond to unemployment claims, verifications, and statistical reporting
- Ensure collective bargaining agreements are interpreted for payroll system compliantly as the subject matter expert of payroll
- Support payroll system implementation
- Participate in other team projects assigned by the manager
Qualifications
- Professional Experience:
Experience with complex payroll systems in multiple jurisdictions in Canada and US, experiences with Quebec payroll is an asset
- Basic understanding of payroll accounting
- Union payroll experience is an asset
- Technology Requirements: Experience with ADP Workforce Now, ADP Workforce Manager, JD Edwards and Dayforce is an asset
- Proficient with MS Office software
- Additional Assets: Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem solving skills
- Superior customer service
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong time management and multitasking skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Languages: Bilingual fluency in English and French is an asset
