SB LLP is seeking an experienced and motivated Personal Injury Paralegal to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with our lawyers and clients and play an important role in the day-to-day management of personal injury files.
We are looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a busy law firm setting. The ideal candidate will have experience handling personal injury matters and be confident managing files from initial intake through to resolution.
Responsibilities
- Manage personal injury files from intake through settlement or litigation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic and physical file records
- Prepare correspondence, legal documents, pleadings, forms, and other file materials
- Track limitation dates, deadlines, appointments, and other important file dates
- Obtain and organize medical records, clinical notes, reports, employment records, and other supporting documentation
- Communicate regularly with clients, insurance adjusters, medical offices, opposing counsel, and other parties
- Assist lawyers with preparation for examinations for discovery, questioning, mediations, settlement meetings, and trials
- Coordinate medical assessments, examinations, appointments, mediations, and other meetings
- Prepare document briefs, chronologies, medical summaries, and other materials as required
- Assist with settlement documentation, releases, disbursements, and file closing procedures
- Review incoming correspondence and ensure appropriate follow-up is completed
- Manage lawyer calendars and assist with scheduling and deadline management
- Maintain regular communication with clients and provide updates as directed by the lawyer
- Perform other administrative and file-related duties as required
Qualifications and Skills The successful candidate will have:
- 3 or more years of experience working in a personal injury practice
- Strong knowledge of personal injury file procedures and terminology
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to manage multiple files and competing deadlines independently
- Strong client service skills and a professional, compassionate approach when dealing with clients
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal practice management software
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
