Overview

River Cree Pharmacy LP is a community-centered pharmacy dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care within the River Cree Medical Centre and the surrounding Enoch Cree Nation. We are seeking a passionate and skilled Community Pharmacist to join our collaborative team on a part time basis.

As a Community Pharmacist, you will be a primary healthcare point of contact for patients in our community and surrounding communities. You will dispense medications, provide clinical consultations, support chronic disease programs, and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes, including working closely with the RCW Surgical Care + team to provide clinical pharmacy services to their patients.Pharmacists with Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) are encouraged to apply.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Accurately dispense prescription medications and verify orders for clinical appropriateness

· Conduct comprehensive medication reviews (CMR) and medication reconciliation

· Counsel patients on medication use, side effects, drug interactions, and adherence strategies

· Identify and resolve drug therapy problems in collaboration with prescribers

· Provide chronic disease management support (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, asthma/COPD, dyslipidemia)

· Administer immunizations and injections in accordance with Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) standards

· Adapt and renew prescriptions in accordance with provincial regulations

· Conduct point-of-care testing and interpret results to guide patient management

· If authorized (APA), initiate, modify, or discontinue drug therapy and document prescribing activities in compliance with regulatory requirements

· Work closely with the RCW Surgical Care + team to support perioperative medication management,



medication reconciliation, and post-operative counselling

· Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and assistants

· Maintain compliance with ACP standards, Health Canada regulations, and internal pharmacy policies

· Participate in quality assurance, inventory management, and continuous quality improvement initiatives

· Foster a culturally respectful and welcoming workplace for all patients, with sensitivity toward Indigenous communities

· Manage and process NIHB billing and special authorizations

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.Sc. Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited institution

· Must be a licensed pharmacist in good standing with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP)

· Injection Certification (ACP-approved)

· First Aid Certification

· Strong clinical knowledge and patient counselling skills

· Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment

· Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) (strongly preferred)

· Community pharmacy experience; Indigenous or rural/remote community experience is an asset

· Familiarity with Indigenous health frameworks, the Truth & Reconciliation Calls to Action, and/or culturally safe care practices

· Training or experience in motivational interviewing, harm reduction, and/or mental health first aid

· Proficiency with pharmacy management software (e.g., Kroll,



PharmaClik)

· A clear Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector (as required). This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
