Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Planner/Scheduler to join our team in Opal, AB. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the planning and coordination of our production and maintenance activities. This position plays a critical role, working with our production and maintenance management teams in both scheduling activities and oversight on requirements of both our internal employees’ and our cost reimbursable subcontractors at our locations.

The Planner/Scheduler will develop and maintain weekly, monthly and quarterly schedules to support the overall goals of the organization for both production and maintenance.

Responsibilities

- Develop, maintain, and communicate schedules for production and maintenance teams.
- Provide quarterly plans to our subcontractors for both labour and equipment requirements
- Coordinate workforce assignments for both direct employees and cost-reimbursable subcontractors
- Work with existing teams on outage planning
- Ensure staffing plans align with production forecasts, project priorities, and operational requirements.




- Identify staffing shortages or surpluses and recommend solutions before they impact production.
- Work collaboratively with managers to develop labour plans that maximize productivity while minimizing downtime and unnecessary labour costs.
- Assist in the implementation of asset management, planning and scheduling applications
- Participate in production planning meetings and provide scheduling updates.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to workforce planning and scheduling processes.
- Prepare labour utilization reports, workforce forecasts, and scheduling metrics for leadership.

Qualifications and Skills

- Experience in industrial planning, scheduling
- Previous experience in mining, aggregates, construction, industrial operations, or a similar heavy industry is considered an asset.
- Robust understanding of workforce scheduling and labour allocation.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with workforce scheduling, ERP, or project management software is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
