Fractional Plant & Processing Advisor — Blue Coast Seafood Ltd. (Richmond, BC)
Blue Coast Seafood is a federally licensed seafood processor in Richmond, operating since 2014. We export live Dungeness crab and are now building out domestic processing — custom packing for harvesters and brands, plus our own product lines.
We're looking for someone who has actually run a fish plant, on a part-time advisory basis. Not a full-time role. One to three days a month to start, more during buildout.
What we need from you
Tell us what our line should cost per pound and what yields to expect by species. Spec the equipment we need — freezing, packing, ice — and tell us what's a waste of money. Review our PCP and SOPs against how we actually operate and flag what CFIA will find before they do. Sanity-check our pack schedule and labour plan when volume arrives.
Who fits
You ran production or QA at a BC or Alaska seafood plant. Maybe you're retired, semi-retired, or consulting now. You know SFCR and CFIA inspection from the plant floor, not from a binder. You can tell us we're wrong.
Species we handle or plan to handle: Dungeness crab, spot prawns,
wild Pacific salmon, groundfish.
Terms
Day rate, negotiable, invoiced monthly.
Plus defined success fees on top of the day rate:
- A fixed fee when our first custom-processing customer signs and runs a first production day.
- A fixed fee on a clean CFIA inspection with no non-compliances issued.
- A fixed fee when a current species or activity is added to our licence and passes first production.
Amounts set in writing before we start, so there's nothing to argue about later. No profit share, no equity — this is a contractor engagement. We'll begin with one paid half-day gap assessment at our Richmond facility. If it's a fit, we set a standing monthly arrangement.
