Pre-Press Operator — Flexo & HP Indigo Digital (Customer Service / Operations)

About us For more than 40 years, Flexo Partners has made labels at its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Scarborough. We run a modern flexographic line and an HP Indigo 6K digital press, and we print for food, beverage, cosmetics and consumer-product brands across Canada.

The role

This is a multi-skilled position that combines pre-press, customer service and operations. You'll prepare print-ready files for both flexo and digital. You'll be the day-to-day contact for customers on proofs and orders. And you'll help keep jobs moving smoothly across the shop floor. The job is fully in office, five days a week, at our Scarborough plant.

What you'll do

Pre-press

- Preflight, correct and prepare customer artwork for flexo and HP Indigo production
- Handle trapping, step-and-repeat, layouts, dielines, white layers, barcodes and variable data
- Manage colour: Pantone matching, spot vs. CMYK/extended gamut, and press profiles
- Create digital proofs and prepare flexo plate files
- Decide with production which jobs suit flexo, digital or both

Customer service

- Be the first point of contact for artwork, proofs and order questions
- Guide customers through file requirements and proof approvals, and fix issues quickly
- Enter orders,



build job tickets and keep customers updated from proof to shipping

Operations

- Help plan the production schedule across the flexo, digital and finishing teams
- Keep track of plates, dies, materials and job files
- Help improve workflows, templates and quality checks as we grow

What you bring

- 2+ years in label or packaging pre-press, with flexo experience (digital/HP Indigo is a strong asset)
- Strong Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat skills; Esko (ArtPro+, DeskPack, Automation Engine) and/or HP SmartStream/Production Pro are an asset
- A good understanding of colour management, substrates and label finishing
- Clear, professional communication with customers
- Organized, detail-focused and able to handle several jobs under tight deadlines
- Able to work on-site Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Bonus: knowledge of food, cannabis or Health Canada/bilingual (Bill 96) labelling rules
