This position is eligible for a campus flex arrangement The salary range for this position is:

- Recruitment range: $69,872 to $77,030. Starting salary is determined in accordance with the PEA Collective Agreement.
- Performance range: Up to $90,849. Progression beyond the recruitment range is available through annual performance increases, in accordance with the PEA Collective Agreement.

Job Summary

Mandate:

Reporting to the Associate Director, Community and Government Relations, the Program Coordinator will play a key role in strengthening relationships between the university and the broader community by leading the implementation of a Speakers’ Network, a new partnership between Community Relations and the Division of Continuing Studies. This program will create accessible opportunities for UVic experts and community to come together to share knowledge, stories, and expertise. This role works in collaboration with a broad range of academic and service units on campus alongside diverse external organizations and communities.

They are responsible for the planning,



administration and delivery of a wide range of innovative learning events offered through the Speaker’s Network.

Objectives:

- Implement the successful launch of the Speakers’ Network Program
- Transition the program to an operational maintenance phase to ensure program sustainability.
- Evaluate program impact and recommend enhancements to strengthen program outcomes and align with institutional priorities.
- Ensure the Speakers’ Network actively reflects and promotes principles of equity, accessibility, and diversity across all aspects of programming, outreach, and engagement.

This role may involve occasional evening and weekend work hours.

Job Requirements

Requirements

This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree plus a minimum of 3 years’ experience and training in a relevant field, preferably in a post-secondary or institutional environment. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

- Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and respectful working and learning environment.
- Experience working collaboratively with local community organizations.
- Knowledge of academic systems, program planning, and evaluation.
- Experience in event planning, community engagement, or programming.
- Understanding of how to maintain and grow a network of speakers (recruitment, onboarding, relationship maintenance).
- Experience creating briefing notes, reports, and other documents for various audiences.




- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and tailor communication styles for different audiences.
- Familiarity with event technology, digital communication tools, and organizational skills to track speaker engagements, scheduling, and program feedback.
- High level of attention to detail and excellent organizational and administrative support skills, including the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Ability to resolve tasks and/or problems with a high degree of independence by exercising judgment, initiative, innovation, and employing critical thinking and/or analysis
- Experience in working under pressure, being flexible, and consistently meeting deadlines.
- Skills to research and assess information, quickly identify problems or issues, and recommend solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate activities, manage multiple projects, and prioritize.
- Advanced proficiency with computer applications.

Assets or Preferences

- Knowledge of university organization and post-secondary system would be considered an asset.
