PROGRAM COORDINATOR

This is a permanent position.

The Program Coordinator reports to the Director of Group Care and Support Services and Executive Director and is responsible for the overall operation and management of the programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Provides leadership and oversight for assigned programs, ensuring high-quality, child and family-centered service delivery consistent with Waypoints’ values, policies and practice standards;

· Provides leadership, supervision and support to employees, promoting accountability, professional growth and effective team functioning;

· Leads and supports the development, implementation and ongoing review of individualized programming, intervention and support plans for children and youth;

· Manages assigned operational budgets and resources responsibly;

· Develops and maintains cooperative relationships with the Department of Social Supports and Well Being, families, community partners and other service providers;

· Contributes to program development, quality improvement and organizational planning initiatives;

· Ensures services are delivered in accordance with Children, Youth and Families Act and applicable legislation, policies and standards.

UPDATED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· A Bachelor’s degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Sciences, or a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution is required. The successful candidate will also have a minimum 5 years relevant experience working with children, youth, and families, preferably within group care, family support, or other relevant community-based service settings. Demonstrated leadership experience,



including the ability to guide staff, coordinate service delivery, and respond effectively to complex situations, is also required.

· Consideration may also be given to candidates with a diploma in Child and Youth Care combined with additional relevant education and significant experience in Child and Youth Care.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

· Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of child and youth development, family systems, trauma and its impacts, and the complex needs and life experiences of children, youth and families receiving services.

· Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed, relationship-based, culturally responsive and strengths-based approaches to child and youth care practice

· Demonstrated understanding of professional child and youth care practice.

· Demonstrated supervisory, leadership and analytical skills.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills.

· Demonstrated reliability and follow-through in meeting responsibilities and commitments

· Ability to adapt to various social and interpersonal situations and develop creative and flexible responses.

· Demonstrated capacity for self-reflection and ongoing professional growth.

· Must be willing to become certified as a Child and Youth Care Practitioner.

Use of a private vehicle, a valid Criminal Records screening certificate, a child protection records check, and a valid First Aid/CPR certificate are also conditions of employment.

SALARY: HL-17
