Role Details

As a logistics leadership volunteer, you will be part of our organizing committees of 10 to 15 volunteers who will work over the months to help us organize our fundraising events. Depending on the needs in your community, available roles could include committee lead, logistics, community outreach, volunteer lead, and social media.

Description

As Program Planning, Coordinator, you will perform the following tasks:

- Plan various animation and entertainment activities to keep participants active and engaged throughout the event (bingo, zumba, themed tours, etc.)
- Plan and manage all aspects of entertainment on the day of the event

- Book sound equipment

- Book entertainers

- Build the entertainment program
- Work with the Event Experience, Coordinator to ensure that equipment and support are in place for all planned activities - Book and manage the entertainment program - Build the entertainment program
- Book an excellent Master of Ceremonies and work with the Ceremonies Manager to set up the schedule

- Organize the children's corner
- Work with the Community Outreach, Coordinator to provide all materials required to deploy the CCS mission.

- You understand that in any festive event, like Relay for Life, the entertainment has to be up to the task.




- You have a strong network in your community and are comfortable asking individuals and groups to participate in the Relay experience by hosting or proposing interesting activities.
- You are able to develop a program and communicate parameters, keeping everyone focused on their task while creating a respectful teamwork climate.
- You are aware that cancer can change everything, and that by mobilizing the community to support those affected by the disease, we are helping to prove that life is bigger than cancer.
- You're ready to give your all to make the Relay experience a positive and meaningful one for everyone you come into contact with.

Our Investment Our organization will provide you with training, support and online resources to help you manage this component.

You'll also benefit from the support of the Event Experience, Coordinator and the Relay Logistics, Director, a fellow volunteer, who will oversee all aspects of event set-up.

You'll be part of the wider Relay community, and through your activities with CCS staff and other volunteers, you'll have the chance to gain knowledge and play a mentoring role.

Your commitment

- This is an important leadership role that should require an ongoing level of commitment, including regular monthly meetings with the entire committee.
- In between committee meetings, you will contact professionals to provide entertainment for the event, and arrange for a Master of Ceremonies.
- You agree to maintain regular,



ongoing contact with other committee volunteers whose responsibilities overlap with yours. You will also maintain contact with the Event Experience, Coordinator and the Relay Logistics, Director.
- Your time commitment will gradually increase as the date of the event approaches, as you ensure that the event is safe and fun. On the day of the Relay, your leadership will be paramount so that at the end everyone feels a sense of accomplishment, with the conviction that their actions have created something greater than cancer.
