Job Overview
We are seeking a Project Controls Engineer or Specialist to support the planning, monitoring and successful delivery of a land-based power generation project. The successful candidate will work closely with project management, engineering, procurement, construction and site teams to maintain effective control of project costs, schedules, risks and changes.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain the project cost baseline and control budget.
- Track commitments, actual expenditures, accruals and project cash flow.
- Prepare cost forecasts and estimates at completion.
- Develop and maintain realistic project schedules.
- Monitor milestones, critical-path activities and key deadlines.
- Identify schedule delays and recommend corrective actions.
- Identify, assess and track project risks and opportunities.
- Support the development and implementation of risk-mitigation plans.
- Maintain project risk, issue and action registers.
- Administer the project change-control process.
- Evaluate proposed scope, cost and schedule changes.
- Monitor trends and help prevent uncontrolled scope growth.
- Prepare regular project-controls reports,
dashboards and progress updates.
- Participate in project meetings and conduct regular visits to the job site.
- Work with contractors and project personnel to confirm the accuracy of progress and performance information.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, project management, business or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years experience in project controls, cost control, scheduling or project management.
- Experience with power generation, industrial construction, energy or other major capital projects is preferred.
- Working knowledge of project scheduling and cost-control systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and project-management software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Robust analytical, organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with engineering, construction and commercial teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to the project site.
