Pay: $23.00–$30.00 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated ability
Probationary Period: 3 to 6 months
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 4
About the Role
- We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Property Management Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist / Finance Officer to join our growing team in Kingston.
- This is not simply a data-entry bookkeeping position. We are looking for someone who understands property management accounting, multiple related companies, intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and due-to/from accounts, and who takes pride in keeping financial records accurate and organized.
- The ideal candidate will be someone who can start by supporting our bookkeeping and accounting processes, learn our systems and company structure, and progressively take on more responsibility.
- We are prepared to invest in the right person and provide clear opportunities for wage increases as your responsibilities and capabilities grow.
Compensation & Growth Our starting range is $23–$30/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Advancement is competency-based rather than simply time-based. We want to reward someone who takes on more responsibility and demonstrates that they can independently handle increasingly complex accounting work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bookkeeping & Reconciliations
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records
- Complete monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Reconcile general ledger accounts
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain accurate accounts payable and accounts receivable records and ensure timely payments
- Record and categorize transactions accurately
- Review transactions for accuracy and completeness
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Maintain organized supporting documentation
- Ensure financial records are kept current and properly documented
- Property Management Accounting
- Record and reconcile property-related income and expenses
- Track expenses by property and/or company
- Review property-level transactions for accuracy
- Assist with monthly financial reporting
- Understand the difference between operating expenses, capital expenditures, owner-related transactions and company expenses
- Reconcile transactions between property-management operations and individual properties
- Assist management in understanding property-level financial results
- Intercompany & Due-To/From Accounting
A significant component of this position will involve working with multiple related companies,
therefore experience with intercompany accounting and due-to/from accounts is considered a major asset. Audit & Financial Review is essential, therefore, we are looking for someone with strong attention to detail and the ability to question numbers rather than simply enter them.
Responsibilities may include:
- Reviewing transactions for unusual or incorrect entries
- Identifying discrepancies and potential errors
- Tracing transactions back to their source
- Performing account reconciliations
- Reviewing supporting documentation
- Helping prepare records for year-end accounting and external CPA review
- Maintaining organized records that can withstand internal and external review
- Following transactions through multiple accounts and companies to ensure they have been recorded correctly
What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate will have:
- 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Experience with property management accounting is strongly preferred
- Experience working with multiple companies is a strong asset
- Understanding of due-to/from accounts
- Experience with intercompany transactions and reconciliations
- Strong bank and credit-card reconciliation skills
- Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to identify errors and discrepancies independently
- Ability to work with confidential financial information
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while also communicating effectively with management
- Good understanding of accounting principles
- Proficiency with accounting/bookkeeping software
Experience with QuickBooks Online is essential and property-management software is considered an asset. The Person We Are Looking For is:
Detail-oriented.
- Small discrepancies matter to you. You don't simply make the numbers balance — you want to understand why they balance.
Analytical.
- You can look at a transaction and recognize when something doesn't make sense.
Organized.
- You keep supporting documentation, reconciliations and accounting records clean and easy to follow.
Independent.
- You can take ownership of your responsibilities without needing someone constantly checking your work.
Curious.
- When you don't understand a transaction, you investigate it rather than simply asking someone else to fix it.
Accountable.
- You take ownership of the accuracy of your work.
Interested in growing.
- We are looking for someone who wants to develop into a key member of our accounting operation rather than someone looking for a job where the responsibilities never change.
Why Join Us?
- This position offers the opportunity to become an important part of a growing property-management and investment operation.
- For the right person, there is significant room for growth in both responsibility and compensation.
- We are specifically looking for someone who can grow from handling routine bookkeeping to eventually taking ownership of the accounting function and becoming a trusted resource for management.
Qualifications
Required:
- Previous bookkeeping/accounting experience
- QuickBooks Online experience
- Solid attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong reconciliation skills
- Ability to work independently

- Property management bookkeeping experience
- Experience with multiple corporations or related companies
- Experience with due-to/from accounts
- Intercompany accounting experience
- Property-management software experience
- Experience preparing books for CPA/year-end review
- Experience identifying and correcting accounting discrepancies
Compensation
- $23.00–$30.00 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated capabilities.
- The successful candidate will begin with a 3-month probationary period. Wage progression will be based on demonstrated competency, increased responsibility and the ability to independently manage more complex aspects of the accounting function.
- We are looking for a long-term addition to our team, and the right candidate will have the opportunity to grow with the company.
