KPC Power Electrical Ltd. is a progressive, high-voltage electrical contractor located in Ajax, Ontario, Canada.
We specialize in high-voltage substation maintenance, construction, retrofits and wholesale energy-metering services. KPC houses all specialties internally to professionally implement all work, ensuring complete customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Protection & Control Technologist, you will be responsible for the testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of high-voltage substation equipment and protection systems.
- Interpret and analyze single-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, and logic drawings
- Perform testing, calibration, commissioning, and maintenance of electromechanical and microprocessor-based protective relays
- Test, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain: Power Transformers, Circuit Breakers, CTs and VTs, Protective Relays, RTUs, Switches and Disconnects, Bus and Cable Systems, Lightning Arrestors, Conduct relay functional testing, logic verification, and end-to-end testing.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot protection and control circuits, SCADA systems, and communication networks.
- Perform site investigations and technical assessments.
- Review engineering drawings and recommend design improvements when required.
- Prepare technical reports, commissioning documentation, and maintenance records.
- Support outage planning, energization activities, and commissioning schedules.
- Ensure work is completed safely and in compliance with applicable regulations and utility standards.
What You'll Bring:
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology (3-year)
or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in protection & control, relay testing, commissioning, or substation maintenance
- Solid knowledge of high-voltage substation equipment, protection and control systems, SCADA/automation, and three-phase power systems
- Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, logic diagrams, and control drawings
- Experience testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining protective relays, transformers, circuit breakers, CTs/VTs, RTUs, and associated substation equipment
- Proficiency with relay testing and configuration software such as OMICRON Test Universe, SEL AcSELerator QuickSet, GE EnerVista, Schneider Easergy Studio, ABB Relion, or Siemens SIPROTEC
- Working knowledge of IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, fibre communication networks, and substation automation systems is considered an asset
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and technical reporting skills with a commitment to safety excellence
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in demanding field environments, including working at heights, confined spaces, and energized high-voltage facilities in varying weather conditions
- CET designation and a valid driver's licence are considered assets
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $35.00-$52.00 per hour
