System Equine is a Canadian-owned company specializing in the design and manufacture of premium equine products.
We are currently looking for a skilled and motivated Press Brake Operator to join our steel fabrication team at our Fergus manufacturing facility.
This is a part-time opportunity for someone who is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with modern fabrication equipment in a fast-paced production environment.
The Opportunity
As a Press Brake Operator, you will support the fabrication of steel components used across our product lines.
You will work with flat and tube laser systems, CNC press brake equipment, fabrication drawings, job travelers, and production specifications while ensuring completed parts meet required quality, tolerance, and finish standards.
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, follows established processes, maintains a high standard of quality, and works safely and collaboratively with the production team.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate flat and tube laser equipment, including Durma systems.
- Set up and operate CNC press brake equipment to bend and form steel components.
- Read, interpret, and follow fabrication drawings, job travelers, and production instructions.
- Verify part dimensions, tolerances, and overall quality using appropriate measuring tools.
- Monitor cut, bend, and finish quality throughout the production process.
- Perform basic equipment adjustments, minor maintenance, and troubleshooting as required.
- Identify and communicate equipment, quality, or production concerns promptly.
- Assist with part sorting, packaging, staging, and moving materials to the next production process.
- Follow established production procedures and safe work practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Work closely with production, design, and other team members to meet production timelines and priorities.
- Participate in cross-training and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other related production duties as required based on business needs.
What We’re Looking For
- 1+ year of experience operating laser cutting and/or CNC press brake equipment preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or similar production environment considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and production documentation.
- Comfortable using basic measuring tools such as calipers, tape measures, and squares.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain quality standards while working efficiently.
- Willingness to learn, follow established procedures, and take responsibility for completed work.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining good attendance.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team environment.
- Forklift experience is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks drawings is considered an asset.
- Experience with Metalix or other nesting software is considered an asset.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements This position is performed in an active manufacturing and fabrication environment.
Candidates must be able to:
- Stand, bend, reach, crouch, and move for extended periods during the shift.
- Perform repetitive physical tasks associated with machine operation and material handling.
- Safely handle steel components and materials using appropriate lifting techniques or material-handling equipment.
- Work safely around lasers, press brakes, machinery, noise, sharp edges, and other conditions normally associated with a fabrication environment.
- Wear required personal protective equipment and follow all workplace health and safety procedures.
Position Details

Candidates must be able to reliably commute to our Fergus facility for their scheduled shifts.
