Redstone Food Group Ltd. (“Redstone”) is a high-growth commercial bakery based in Mississauga that manufactures bread and bakery products, focused on the in-store bakery segment. The Company focusses on private-label baked goods including artisan breads, garlic bread, muffins, cakes and cookies, all manufactured in four commercial bakery facilities based in Mississauga and Vaughan.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Quality Assurance Technician to join our Quality Assurance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working cross-functionally and helping to ensure that our products consistently meet Redstone’s food safety, quality and customer standards.
JOB SUMMARY The Quality Assurance Technician - Night Shift supports the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of Redstone’s food safety and quality management systems. This position monitors plant processes, products, and records to ensure compliance with company standards, product specifications, customer requirements and applicable regulatory and BRCGS requirements.
The QA Technician - Night Shift provides guidance and support to employees and production leadership, investigates food safety and quality concerns, and helps foster a strong culture of food safety and continuous improvement throughout the facility.
The QA Tech shall assist the QA Manager to oversee day-to-day functioning of the Quality Assurance Department, including scheduling of QA personnel, assigning tasks and coordinating activities among QA team members ensuring that the programs are implemented effectively meeting the BRCGS requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support and coaching to employees and production management to maintain and improve facility QA practices and procedures.
- Devise, develop and ensure implementation of the SOPs and SSOPs to ensure compliance with the BRCGS requirements and to meet customer’s requirements.
- Provide support and coaching to employees and the production management team to maintain and improve QA and Sanitation practices and procedures of the plant.
- Ensure records of all testing and evaluations are maintained accurately and verified for compliance with product specifications, including raw materials, work in process and finished product following company’s protocol.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects (current product development, HACCP management, BRCGS programs, consumer complaints, One Point Lesson training, etc.) with the goal of improving and strengthening food safety and food quality management system.
- Investigate food safety and quality non-conformances, conduct root cause analysis, follow-up with appropriate preventive and corrective actions with the pertaining departments.
- Ensure all employees are fully trained and follow all GMPs rules and in-house Quality and Consumer safety standards using BRCGS as the main control tool.
- Ensure that sanitation levels and product safety, personal hygiene and GMPs conform to company and government requirements.
- Plan and schedule QA personnel work hours and duties to ensure QA coverage and support for smooth plant operation throughout each shift.
- Motivate the QA team, provide clear expectations, hold team members accountable and ensure the food safety system is being maintained. Lead and participate in plant-wide training programs and train new QA team members on QA practices and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma in Food Science or related field (University degree preferable).
- Minimum 2 years of QA Technician experience in a food manufacturing facility.
- Knowledge of Quality Systems, HACCP, HARPC, BRC, PCQI.
- Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
- Effective interpersonal and leadership skills; excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Capable of leading continuous improvement initiatives cross functionally and delivering business results.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
- Extremely detail-oriented and analytical thinker.
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
- Able to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Shift requirements: 11pm to 7am, subject to change from time to time
- Available to work shifts based on production requirements and company needs, including weekends and peak-demand periods, in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to stand for long periods of time at production equipment and walk throughout plant to monitor various departments throughout each shift.
