Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) to join our team as an RECE Pedagogical Supervisor.

This is a single, full-time leadership position that combines pedagogical leadership, educator mentorship, floor supervision, designated RECE responsibilities, and operational support.

Working closely with the Director of Operations, the successful candidate will support educators in delivering high-quality, play-based programming while helping maintain a positive, professional, safe, and collaborative childcare environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesPedagogical Leadership & Educator Mentorship

- Mentor and coach RECEs, ECE Assistants, and other educators.
- Observe classroom practices and provide constructive, supportive feedback.
- Support educators in developing meaningful, play-based curriculum.
- Encourage educators to follow children's interests, ideas, strengths, and emerging learning.
- Support the development of meaningful provocations and invitations to play.
- Promote intentional use of open-ended materials and learning environments.
- Model responsive, respectful, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate interactions.
- Support observation, documentation, inquiry, and reflective practice.
- Assist with educator onboarding, orientation, and professional development.
- Promote consistency and quality of pedagogical practice throughout the centre.

Floor & Staff Leadership

- Serve as an approachable and visible leadership presence on the floor.
- Act as a first point of support for day-to-day staff and classroom concerns.
- Assist educators with problem-solving and decision-making.




- Support classroom coverage and staffing needs when required.
- Step into classrooms and provide ratio support as needed.
- Help ensure staff understand and follow centre policies and procedures.
- Support a positive, respectful, professional, and collaborative workplace culture.
- Assist with resolving day-to-day concerns calmly and professionally.

Designated RECE & Operational Support When the Director of Operations is off site, the successful candidate will serve as the designated RECE and leadership contact for the centre.

Responsibilities may include:

- Responding to immediate staff and floor concerns.
- Supporting educators with situations that arise throughout the day.
- Addressing unexpected operational matters in accordance with centre policies and procedures.
- Supporting appropriate communication with families when required.
- Communicating relevant information to the Director of Operations.
- Supporting health, safety, supervision, and regulatory expectations.
- Assisting with staff scheduling and coverage.
- Supporting onboarding, staff communication, documentation, and centre organization.
- Assisting with other operational responsibilities as required.

Qualifications Required

- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- 3–5 years of experience working in a licensed childcare or early learning environment, preferably in a lead, supervisory, room-lead, or other elevated role.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification.
- Vulnerable Sector Check and all required childcare documentation.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development.
- Strong understanding of play-based and child-centred pedagogy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound professional judgment.

Assets

- Previous supervisory or management experience.
- Experience mentoring or coaching educators.
- Experience with curriculum development and pedagogical documentation.
- Experience facilitating professional development.




- Experience with staff scheduling or childcare administration.
- Knowledge of Ontario childcare licensing requirements and regulations.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay: $28.00-$30.00 per hour
