Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) ensuring patient safety and comfort
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and dietary advice
- Assist with patient assessments by recording medical history and current dental concerns
- Support the dental team during procedures by managing sterilization, chairside assistance, and patient comfort
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using dental practice management software such as Dentrix
- Provide bilingual support when needed to ensure clear communication with diverse patient populations
- Collaborate with dentists and other staff to develop personalized treatment plans for patients of all ages, including pediatrics
- Promote a positive patient experience through excellent customer service and professional demeanor
Experience
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials in good standing
- Prior experience working in a busy dental office setting is highly preferred
- Familiarity with Dentrix or similar dental practice management software is advantageous
- Knowledge of orthodontics procedures and terminology is a plus
- Experience assisting with pediatric patients and understanding their unique needs
- Robust customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in English and bilingual options are highly valued
- Basic understanding of medical terminology relevant to dental care is beneficial
