Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) Lab

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our diagnostic team in the Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) Laboratory. In this role, you will perform specialized diagnostic testing, educate patients on pulmonary health, and collaborate with respirologists to support exact diagnoses and treatment plans for patients with chronic and acute respiratory conditions.

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnostic Testing: Perform full PFT evaluations including Spirometry, Lung Volumes (Plethysmography), Diffusing Capacity (DLCO), Methacholine Challenge testing, and Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) sampling/analysis.
- Quality Assurance: Execute daily calibration, quality control, maintenance, and hygiene protocols for diagnostic equipment in accordance with ATS/ERS guidelines.
- Patient Care & Education: Direct patients through complex breathing maneuvers, ensuring optimal effort and repeatable results while providing clear education on respiratory medications and disease management.
- Data Analysis: Interpret raw test results, compile diagnostic data,



and prepare accurate reporting profiles for medical staff and respirologists.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Licensure: Active (or eligible for immediate) registration as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
- Education: Graduate of an accredited 3-year Diploma or Degree program in Respiratory Therapy.

Certifications

- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification.
- Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of clinical experience in a dedicated PFT laboratory preferred; strong background in clinical outpatient diagnostic testing required.
- Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, proficiency with diagnostic testing software/EMRs, and patient communication skills.
