Support Workers are responsible for guiding a child through after school programming. Using a variety of educational philosophies and life skills, educators will provide care in a manner that will encourage children’s intellectual, physical, social, developmental and emotional growth and support the children with care including hygiene, feeding, exercise and play.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- This role is 2pm-4:00pm Monday to Friday with a longer 7 hour day during professional development days, spring break and summer holidays.
- Be aware of medical and developmental history of the child who requires additional support in the programs
- Willingness to be versatile and adapt to behaviors and situations
- Liaison with Educators and support child development coordinator
- Educating educators on techniques and support following ICPs to help insure childrens inclusion
- Collaborate with Program manager and team members to create a environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social and emotional development of children – with an emphasis on emergent curriculum
- Assess child development, and ensure any special requirements are accommodated.
- Liaison with developmental professionals when required.
- Oversee ongoing developmental records for the supported child, noting all developing physical, social, emotional and cognitive skills
- Maintain open,
friendly and cooperative relationship with the child’s family and encourage parent involvement in the program.
- Be sensitive to individual children’s differences and needs to support staff in adjusting programming and be able to adjust programming to meet those individual needs.
- Plan, prepare and implement age appropriate, indoor/outdoor activities that adhere to emergent curriculum – and encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem solving appropriate to the development levels of the children.
- Model appropriate and positive behavior and language through daily contact with children and early childhood educators in the program
- Ensure confidentiality always of all information related to the organization, membership, and staff
- Participate in team planning sessions and work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating and contributing information on a continuous basis.
- Ensure adherence to licensing and compliance requirements, as well as Maven Lane Policies and Procedures
- Maintain monthly billing, reporting and submissions
- Ensure all individual care plans are current, updated and meet licensing requirements
