We are looking for an experienced Senior Tax Accountant with a strong background in Canadian Public Accounting to join a growing remote accounting team supporting CPA firms across Canada.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in year-end accounting, tax compliance, bookkeeping, and client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage Compilation Engagements / Year-End Engagements , from trial balance through to finalized financial statements.
- Prepare and file T1 Individual Income Tax Returns accurately and on time.
- Prepare and review T2 Corporate Tax Returns , including year-end tax adjustments and supporting schedules.
- Prepare and file T-Slips , including T4, T5, and related CRA filings.
- Perform full-cycle bookkeeping on a monthly or quarterly basis using QuickBooks Online (QBO) .
- Prepare and file GST/HST returns while ensuring CRA compliance.
- Assist with Canadian Payroll processing , including payroll calculations, deductions, remittances, and year-end payroll reporting. (Preferred)
- Maintain accurate accounting records, reconciliations, and working papers.
- Communicate professionally with clients and resolve accounting and tax-related queries.
- Ensure assignments are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
Requirements Education & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field .
- 3–6 years of experience working with a Canadian Public Accounting firm.
- Strong experience in:
- Compilation Engagements / Year-End Accounting
- T1 Individual Tax Returns
- T2 Corporate Tax Returns
- Full-Cycle Bookkeeping
- GST/HST Return Preparation
- T-Slip Preparation
Technical Skills
- Excellent working knowledge of QuickBooks Online (QBO) .
- CaseWare experience is a strong asset but is not mandatory.
- Knowledge of Canadian Payroll is an added advantage.
- Experience with Canadian tax software such as:
- TaxPrep
- TaxCycle
- Profile
- CCH iFirm
- Strong understanding of Canadian accounting standards and CRA compliance .
