The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Accountant or Supervisor to join our team. Reporting to the Partners and Senior Manager, you will work across a varied portfolio of compilation, assurance, tax, and compliance engagements.

A central part of this role is reviewing the work of junior staff and supporting their technical development. We are looking for someone who can identify issues, provide clear and constructive review notes, explain the reasoning behind corrections, and offer practical guidance that helps junior team members improve.

You will also take ownership of client files, communicate directly with clients, and work closely with experienced partners. Because our team members are not limited to a single service line, you will continue to gain exposure across different types of clients and engagements.

This role is well suited to an experienced public practice accountant who enjoys producing high-quality work, helping others develop, and maintaining a sustainable work-life balance outside of busy season.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and review working paper files and financial statements for compilation, review, and audit engagements
- Review junior staff work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards
- Provide clear, timely, and constructive review notes




- Explain technical issues and corrections so junior staff can apply the learning to future files
- Provide practical, on-the-job training and general guidance to staff accountants and CPA articling students
- Identify recurring knowledge or process gaps and work with the Partners and Senior Manager to address them
- Prepare and coordinate corporate, personal, trust, and charity tax returns
- Prepare and review GST/HST, PST, WorkSafeBC, and other compliance filings
- Monitor engagement progress, budgets, and client deadlines
- Communicate directly with clients and the CRA on routine matters
- Work with partners and team members to resolve accounting and tax matters

About You

- CPA designation with at least three years of public practice experience, including experience at the Senior Accountant level
- Demonstrated experience reviewing working paper files, financial statements, and tax returns prepared by junior staff
- Able to provide clear review notes and explain technical concepts in a practical and understandable way
- Patient and constructive when coaching staff while maintaining clear expectations for quality and follow-through
- Genuinely interested in helping junior staff build their knowledge, judgment, and confidence
- Comfortable working across compilation, assurance, tax, and compliance engagements
- Strong technical judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to high-quality work
- Comfortable taking ownership of client files and managing competing deadlines
- Clear and professional in your communication with clients and colleagues
- Organized, self-directed, practical, and solutions-focused




- Interested in building a long-term career in public practice

Technical Skills

- Working knowledge of CaseWare, Taxprep, QuickBooks, Sage 50, and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience applying ASPE is required
- Experience with assurance standards is required
- IFRS exposure is an asset
