About the Position

We are looking for a caring, reliable, and compassionate Senior Caregiver / Home Support Worker to assist an elderly couple living in an apartment in Surrey, BC.

The caregiver will provide day-to-day support to both seniors, with particular attention to the needs of the husband, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment.

We are looking for someone who is patient, respectful, trustworthy, and comfortable working with elderly individuals.

This is a non-medical home-care position, unless the candidate has the appropriate qualifications and experience to provide additional care within their skilled scope.

Responsibilities

- Provide companionship and general support to an elderly couple
- Assist with preparing simple, healthy meals and snacks
- Help with grocery shopping and basic errands when required
- Assist with light household chores, such as laundry, dishes, tidying, and maintaining a clean living environment
- Assist with daily activities as needed
- Provide support and companionship to the husband during his cancer treatment and recovery
- Help with mobility and getting around the home, if required
- Remind the client about scheduled medications, where appropriate and permitted
- Observe and communicate any changes in the client's condition or well-being to the family
- Accompany the client to appointments or errands when needed
- Maintain a respectful, comfortable, and safe environment for both seniors

Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience working with seniors, elderly couples, or individuals requiring additional care is preferred
- Caregiver, Personal Support Worker (PSW), Health Care Assistant (HCA), Home Support Worker, or similar experience is preferred
- Nursing experience or relevant healthcare certification is an asset but not necessarily required for this non-medical position
- Must be compassionate, patient, dependable, and trustworthy
- Good communication skills
- Comfortable assisting with light household tasks and meal preparation
- Ability to recognize when a situation requires contacting family members or medical professionals

Schedule The schedule can be discussed based on the caregiver's availability and the needs of the family. We are open to discussing part-time or full-time hours.

Compensation

$20–$25 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and responsibilities.
