SENIOR EDITOR

We are looking for a Senior Editor that combines creative, managerial, and technical know-how, participating in and supervising the edit process from storyboard through final delivery and into archive.

Supporting multiple projects and/ or requests at once, the Sr. Editor will collaborate with Production and Technology teams to document, refine and improve editing workflows and processes ongoing.

A member of the WSS leadership team, this role will play a key role as supervisor for various editing staff, conducting regular check-ins, creative and technical support, plus mentorship where needed.

The Sr. Editor will also be responsible for providing regular and pro-active communications on project status, resource needs, and/or recommendations for improvement to executive stakeholders.

What You Will Do:

STUDIO EDITORIAL OVERSIGHT

· Supervise and support editorial projects and requests.

· Collaborate with Production, Pipeline and Project Producer(s) on implementation of editorial & archiving processes and organization. Amend and maintain on-going an Editorial Department Bible (studio and/ or project specific).

· Pro-actively communicate editorial concerns and/ or recommendations to SVP Production Innovation, Producer to support for more effective work.

· Collaborate with Producer(s) and/ or Director(s) in planning stages and throughout a project’s lifecycle to ensure editorial is set up to meet contractual technical specs and delivery requirements easily.

· Organize video and audio tracks as per WSS production standards; which must in turn be exported and delivered to Animators, 3D artists, composers, sound mixers, and colourists as per individual specs.

· Track and organize all external and internal assets used for easy filing at completion of episode or project.

· Maintain a library of approved general use assets for each project (i.e. music, sound effects, etc.).

· Lead process discussions with editorial team, support and initiate best practices both for studio and on a project specific basis.

· Strategize on proper organization and naming conventions and ensure team are using the correct naming conventions, saving work in accordance with edit workflows and uploading to Flow correctly.

· Ensure all notes are tracked in Flow and addressed by applicable team members.

· Support editorial partner identification (i.e.



shared asset libraries, collaborators) and supervise process roll-out to editorial department.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT/ LEADERSHIP

· Act as manager and supervisor to in-house Editor(s) and Assistant Editor(s) - manage priorities, assignments, time-off requests and provide guidance/ mentorship and training as needed.

· Work with Editorial coordinator to plan out tasks and look at any flags.

· Foster a creative, diverse, collaborative, accountable environment that nurtures talent, and encourages giving team members a voice.

· Act as an on-the-floor leader, providing support, guidance and clarity where needed.

· Conduct regular check-ins for those reporting directly, as well as with department heads/ managers for collaboration.

· Run daily team stand-ups with editing department.

PRE-PRODUCTION/PRODUCTION

· Creatively collaborate with the Directors/Producers in all areas of pre-production, production in order to lock a final animatic with key poses for animation through final render.

· Edit animatics and voice tracks per the creative vision direction of the Director(s).

· Build audio tracks with SFX/ music.

RETAKES/POST-PRODUCTION

· Manage that all incoming rendered content and source material for editorial purposes is well organized and labeled.

· Work with Directors to cut final locked version of the episode for postproduction audio.

· Manage that outputs and asset turnovers are prepared per spec for post-production on schedule.

OTHER

· Deliver assignments per the project’s schedule.

· Adhere to and implement all digital file management protocols.

· Fulfill all duties in an efficient and diligent manner.

What You Will Bring:

Education/Experience:

· Degree and/or diploma in film school or equivalent experience preferred.





· 5+ years of experience working in a professional film/television environment preferred

· 2-3+ years of experience working as an editor on animated content preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

· Experience in narrative development and storytelling as it pertains to editing.

· Advanced knowledge in using Adobe Premiere is required.

· Familiarity with Flow as a tracking and asset filing system is preferred.

· Prior experience using After Effects and/or Photoshop is an asset.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00-$105,000.00 per year
