SUMMARY:

CTM Design Services Ltd. is a licensed engineering firm providing engineering design services in various disciplines and jurisdictions from Ontario to British Columbia. Together with CTM Architecture Ltd. we provide an integrated design service. Rather than be all things to all people, we specialize in gas bars, convenience stores, quick service restaurants, retail, and commercial space.

CTM works with both independent owner/operators and corporate clients to create inviting, efficient, superbly designed, productive and profitable environments that elevate brand experience. CTM Design is looking to add a Senior Electrical Technologist with experience in all facets of electrical design with respect to commercial buildings, facility consultation and light industrial applications in North America to our team.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Prepare plans utilizing the Canadian Electrical Code, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario Building codes and various Safety Regulations
- Provide Technical advice on the Canadian Electrical Code and Regulations to update the clients on their standards when there are changes on the codes
- Design electrical systems such as power distribution, single line drawings, feeder sizing, lighting (indoor and outdoor) and communication
- Design peripheral systems such as security, life safety (fire alarm and public address), voice/data communications, security/CCTV systems and IT
- Coordinate projects with different disciplines such as structural, mechanical, and civil engineers as well as architects
- Assist the Department with the workload from the clients
- Review the work of other department members and provide mentorship to junior team members




- Attend meetings with clients to coordinate the design process
- Perform site inspections to evaluate the progress of construction of the projects following appropriate safety measures

EXPERIENCE:

- Minimum ten years’ work experience as an Electrical Technologist is required
- Proficient use of AutoCAD & Revit is required
- Knowledge of design and layout control systems required
- Knowledge of electrical distribution, lighting layouts and fire alarm systems required
- Hands on site experience
- Project management experience is an asset
- Membership in ASET is an asset with the possibility of being P.Tech
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

- CTM Design is a remote-first employer; candidates must have access to a suitable home office setup.
- Travel to sites under construction will be required on occasion
- Candidates located in western Canada are preferred. Applicants from outside Canada will not be considered
- The first few weeks of employment will be office-based, followed by a hybrid work arrangement.
