Senior Management Consultant for PNL Consulting For over 16 years, PNL Consulting Inc. has been the leading management consulting firm out of Prince George, BC, delivering creative solutions that drive business growth, operational efficiency, and strategic transformation for clients across a range of industries.
With a team of 14 split between Consulting & Financial Management Services, they are known for having longstanding clients who turn to the PNL team for business excellence, committed partnership, and a focus on ongoing quality delivery. They believe at their core that they work for their clients first and foremost. They celebrate their client’s success more than their own. As a result, all their work comes through word of mouth.
PNL fills a needed niche as the centre owner for Indigenous consortiums. First Nations, banks, legal counsel, tax advisors, government guarantee programs, and other diligence professionals each own their piece of the process, but none of them own the outcome. And that's where major project deals stall. Someone has to own the centre: to originate, assemble, sequence, drive, and close the transaction. That's what PNL does best on behalf of their clients.
As an example, for over four years, PNL has been actively involved in a few Indigenous consortium equity transactions, including:
- FN CGL Pipeline Limited Partnership — an equity investment option for five First Nations in the Coastal GasLink natural gas pipeline, alongside TC Energy, AimCo, and KKR;
- Stonlasec8 Indigenous Alliance Limited Partnership — a consortium of 38 Nations that acquired an approximately 12.5% interest in Westcoast Energy from Enbridge Inc. for $736 million, plus follow-on investments in the Aspen Point expansion on T-North and the Sunrise expansion on T-South; and
- MNT Investments Limited Partnership — a consortium of five First Nations with an option to invest up to $1 billion in critical assets for the LNG Canada Phase 2 project.
With follow-on investments, this work represents approximately 65% of the total transaction value of Indigenous consortium major equity investments in Western Canada over the past five years.
The PNL Consulting brand doesn't appear in the press releases. The recognition belongs to their First Nation clients. PNL has chosen to be invisible by design. But that does not mean they are not doing impactful work. They are, in fact, changing the face of First Nation participation, from bystanders to owners of some of the most important projects in Canada.
Their success comes from integrating themselves into their client’s business as a trusted strategic advisor. They offer strategic leadership and pragmatic direction to clients who could not otherwise afford the experience and knowledge on a full-time, permanent basis.

PNL’s reputation for quality delivery has led to more requests for their services. Their team needs to grow, and thus they are seeking seasoned, commercially minded business professionals to join them as Senior Management Consultant, with a view to reaching long-term leadership opportunities within the firm.
Reporting to the Managing Partner, the Senior Management Consultant will play a pivotal role in advising clients on financial, commercial, and operational strategies. You will work on business strategy, M&A;, and financial advisory engagements. An interest in working with indigenous clients is important, as a lot of their clients are indigenous.
Key responsibilities will include
- Leading client engagements, providing expert advice on financial analysis, commercial optimization, business process improvements, and strategic planning to enhance profitability and competitiveness for clients.
- Analyzing historical financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) to identify trends and key drivers, then translating those business assumptions into quantitative inputs for financial projection/forecasting models (3-statement models, DCF, budget-vs-actual, etc.)
- Performing and reviewing variance analysis between actuals and forecasts, updating and refining models as new data or business conditions emerge, and presenting findings and recommendations to leadership/stakeholders.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact recommendations.
- Supporting firm-wide initiatives, including business development and continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Travel to client sites and regional locations as required (primarily within BC and Alberta).
Qualifications
We would like to connect with financial and commercially minded professionals with strong business acumen who are deeply passionate about increasing Indigenous participation in economic activity and who thrive in M&A; work, investment strategy and strategic business growth.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Progressive experience in a commercially minded business, investment banking or management consulting firm, with substantial expertise in financial analysis, commercial operations, business management, and strategic visioning.
- Demonstrated track record of leading complex projects and delivering measurable results, including actively doing financial analysis, FP&A;,
corporate finance or investment banking.
- Proven experience in corporate governance within for-profit commercial enterprises, including oversight of compliance, risk management, ethical standards, and board-level advisory.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication and presentation skills to leadership teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced certification (e.g., CFA, CMC) preferred, but capability is more important than credentials.
Whether based out of Prince George or anywhere else in BC or Alberta, you must be able to commute to Northern BC or various locations across BC and Alberta for client engagements.
Compensation For this unique role, PNL Consulting is offering a base salary in the $160,000 to $210,000 CAD range, based on experience, plus an attractive profit-sharing plan. You'll also receive a competitive benefits package, four weeks' vacation, and an office closure between Christmas and New Year because PNL believes in working hard but also genuinely disconnecting when appropriate.
We welcome candidates based in BC or Alberta who are willing to work remotely while travelling for client engagements. For those relocating to Prince George, PNL will offer relocation assistance to make the move easier.
Set against the backdrop of a vibrant northern community, beyond compensation, PNL offers a supportive and inclusive work environment with flexible arrangements that make real work-life balance possible.
