Position Description
Ainley Group is looking to add a qualified candidate for the position of Site Inspector for a Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion project in the Simcoe County area, based out of our Collingwood office.
The successful candidate will provide construction inspection services for a project (s) that includes upgrades at an existing wastewater treatment plant. This role will provide an opportunity to utilize strong technical, construction and interpersonal skills while working closely with contractors, clients, consultants and other project stakeholders.
The Specifics Of The Position Are As Follows
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide site inspection services for the construction, rehabilitation and upgrade of municipal water and wastewater facilities, including sewage pumping stations, wastewater treatment plants, booster pumping stations, reservoirs, pumphouses and water towers.
- Oversee construction activities to verify that workmanship, equipment and materials comply with the Contract Documents, including drawings, specifications, approved shop drawings and applicable standards.
- Monitor civil, structural, process mechanical, building mechanical, electrical and instrumentation/control construction activities and coordinate with the appropriate discipline leads where required.
- Observe installation of process equipment, pumps, piping, valves, HVAC systems, electrical equipment, instrumentation and other facility components.
- Monitor construction progress and identify deficiencies, non-conforming work and potential contractual or regulatory issues.
- Verify quantities and maintain accurate daily inspection reports, construction records and photographic documentation.
- Assist with reviewing contractor progress and documenting work associated with change orders, contemplated changes and extra work.
- Participate in construction progress meetings,
site meetings and coordination meetings as required.
- Liaise with the Contract Administrator, Project Manager, Client, Contractors, field staff, equipment suppliers and other project stakeholders.
- Assist the Contract Administrator and Project Manager in resolving field and construction issues.
- Assist with deficiency inspections, substantial performance, warranty inspections and project closeout.
- Monitor compliance with applicable health and safety requirements and immediately report observed concerns in accordance with project procedures.
- Perform other construction inspection duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Civil, Construction, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology/Technician diploma, or equivalent combination of education and relevant construction experience.
- Minimum 5 years of construction inspection or related field experience, preferably involving municipal water and wastewater facilities.
- OACETT designation as C.E.T. or C.Tech.
- Experience with sewage pumping stations, wastewater treatment plants, water pumping/booster stations, reservoirs, pumphouses and/or water towers would be considered a strong asset.
- Experience with process mechanical equipment including pumps, piping, valves and associated systems would be an asset.
- Familiarity with electrical, instrumentation, controls and SCADA installations associated with municipal facilities would be an asset.
- Comprehensive knowledge of standard engineering and construction principles, practices and techniques.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction products, materials and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and regulations for construction projects.
- Knowledge of Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications (OPSS), applicable municipal standards and MECP requirements would be an asset.

Compensation: $50,000 – $95,000 per year Final compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s specialized experience and technical skill set. While the provided range serves as a general baseline, we take a holistic approach to defining final offers.
