POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Site Supervisor is accountable for the day to day operations of the Centre or Satellite. This position has the overall responsibility to direct and manage all centre enrolment, staffing and volunteers, employee relations, parent relations, Health & Safety, financial accountability and curriculum planning, while ensuring compliance with provincial and municipal regulations that support the operating mission and goals.

Recruitment and Enrolment

· Manages enrolment, conducts family interviews and orientation to the centre, data collection, monthly parent billing and meets yearly service targets

· Protects and respects the rights of children and families

Program Quality

· Implements a philosophy of early learning and care aligned to the organization’s philosophy and strategic priorities

· Provides leadership in the development and execution of culturally competent, inclusive and developmentally appropriate programming

· Accountable for the yearly program evaluation process and outcome measurements

· Ensures a child/family centred learning environment, respectful of children and families strengths and needs and effectively manages space requirements

· Ensures that program delivery meets all provincial legislation, municipal and regional regulations and guidelines

· Provides program support to staff and ensures age-appropriate programs are monitored and evaluated to meet the needs of the children and families

· Provides and/or facilitates parenting programs to meet the needs of the community

Human Resources

· Determines appropriate staffing ratios and participates in the recruitment and orientation of qualified staff, volunteers,



and students

· Leads, motivates and endeavours to retain staff, students and volunteers

· Provides staff with performance feedback, support and addresses staff behaviour, problem solving and conflict resolution. Maintains staff records in a confidential manner

· Conducts individual staff meetings on a regular basis

· Determines professional development/training needs and opportunities for the Centre being aware of the organizations overall objectives and community needs

· Coordinates staff shift and vacation scheduling

· Networks with local schools, libraries and community agencies

· Keeps current on research and issues affecting families and children

· Manages within the Ontario Human Rights Code

Finance & Budget

· Prepares monthly billings, ensures up to date payment of fees

· Monitors and reports monthly on centre’s budget accounting for positive changes or deviations

· Monitors Petty Cash and submits complete package with receipts

· Accountable for collection and reporting of statistical/activity data reporting

· Orders materials, supplies and equipment as required, with budget, to run the site effectively

Health & Safety

· Manages within the Child Care and Early Years Act

· Manages within the Ontario Occupation Health and Safety standards

· Conducts or assigns responsibility for emergency procedures

· Manages health and sanitary practices

· Ensures safe food handling procedures are in place

· Provides for balanced menus and special dietary needs

· Responds to physical and emotional trauma events

· Ensures the playground and/or park structure meets CSA standards

· Ensures site is accessible and secure

Facility Management

· Responds to facility emergencies and develops staff in handling emergency procedures

· Builds relationships with School Board teacher’s, principal’s,



caretakers and other satellite personnel to ensure seamless and quality services

· Develops and manages equipment repair and maintenance schedules

Community Partnerships

· Manages and establishes linkages with partners in the community to strengthen and maximize partnership opportunities for children and families

· Attend training opportunities as appropriate

· Networks with agency and community partners for information exchange and collaboration in program delivery

· Participates in appropriate program committees on a regional basis in collaboration with the Executive Director

Policy Review

· Accountable to ensure operational policies are reviewed and understood and practised by the site’s team

· Bring forward issues and concerns with respect to policies and/or practices that need to be updated

Family Engagement

· Demonstrates a culture of respect for all families

· Promotes family involvement, provides resources to families and refers families as appropriate to external resources

· Ensures the values of Denison Child Care practices are embedded in daily activities

· Support families in understanding the value of developmentally appropriate Early Childhood programs

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

*E.C.E. Degree or Diploma

- Registered and in good Standing with College of Early Childhood Educators

*2 years supervisory experience an asset

*5 years child care experience required

*Family support education and/or experience an asset

*Strong command of written and oral English and demonstrated courteous, pleasant and tactful communication and interpersonal skills

*Strong and effective relationship builder

*Ability to work independently and in a team environment

*Ability to lift up to 45 lbs

*Valid driver’s licence

*Demonstrates the ability to network with community agencies and partners

*Extensive knowledge of Legislation governing Child Care in Ontario

Pay: $31.15-$37.65 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 per week
