The Opportunity

We are seeking a Staff Accountant – CPA Articling Student to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity to build broad public practice experience in a smaller firm where you will work across different types of clients and engagements. Rather than being limited to a single service area, you will gain exposure to compilation, assurance, personal and corporate tax, and other compliance work.

You will receive practical guidance from experienced team members while developing the technical skills and professional judgment required for your CPA designation.

Responsibilities

- Prepare working paper files and financial statements for compilation and assurance engagements
- Prepare related tax returns and other required compliance filings
- Prepare personal and corporate income tax returns, trust returns, and charity information returns
- Prepare GST/HST, PST, WorkSafeBC, and other compliance filings
- Communicate with clients professionally and follow up on required information




- Respond to review notes and apply feedback to future work
- Complete work accurately, efficiently, and within established deadlines
- Work collaboratively with partners and other members of the team

About You

- Enrolled in, or eligible to enrol in, the CPA Professional Education Program
- Previous experience in a public practice accounting firm is preferred
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a practical, solutions-focused approach
- Able to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Comfortable working independently and asking questions when clarification is needed
- Receptive to feedback and motivated to continue building your technical knowledge and judgment
- Committed to producing accurate, high-quality work

Technical Skills

- Familiarity with CaseWare, CaseView, QuickBooks, Sage 50, Taxprep, and Microsoft Office is an asset
- Comfortable learning and working with other applications commonly used in a public practice accounting environment
