KPC Power Electrical Ltd. is a progressive, high-voltage electrical contractor located in Ajax, Ontario, Canada.
We specialize in high-voltage substation maintenance, construction, retrofits and wholesale energy-metering services. KPC houses all specialties internally to professionally implement all work, ensuring complete customer satisfaction.
We are dedicated to improving the reliability of each power system we work on, while dramatically reducing unwanted interruptions. Our work focuses primarily on the Utility, Industry and Institutional sectors, industries where stability and reliability of power is extremely critical.
What You'll Do ?
As a Substation Technician, you will play a key role in the testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-voltage power system equipment across utility, industrial, and institutional environments.
- Perform testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-voltage electrical equipment and protection & control systems
- Support Arc Flash, Coordination, and Power System Studies through data collection, field verification, and technical analysis
- Utilize electrical testing equipment and engineering software to analyze system performance and ensure compliance with industry standards
- Prepare technical reports, commissioning documentation, test records, and recommendations based on field findings
- Collaborate with customers, engineers, and project teams to resolve technical challenges and deliver reliable power system solutions
- Provide technical guidance and support during commissioning, maintenance, and emergency response activities
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality
What You'll Bring:
- Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 3 years of experience in utility, power systems, substation, or electrical construction environments
- Strong understanding of power system testing, commissioning, maintenance,
and troubleshooting principles
- Experience with electrical analysis, testing, and design software, with knowledge of IEEE, NETA, CSA, and applicable industry standards
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and technical reporting skills
- Self-motivated team player capable of working independently with minimal supervision
- Commitment to safety excellence and willingness to adapt to evolving technologies and industry best practices
- Physically capable of working in field environments, including lifting equipment and travelling to customer sites, with occasional extended stays as required
- Valid Ontario G-Class Driver's Licence with a clean driving record (DZ licence considered an asset)
- OACETT Certification (CET or C.Tech designation) is considered an asset
