Position Title

Position Summary The Program Coordinator/Manager is responsible for the overall planning, leadership, operations, and performance of Sum Yaz Daycare. This position provides supervision and support to daycare staff, ensures compliance with applicable childcare licensing requirements, and oversees the delivery of secure, high-quality, culturally appropriate programming for children and families.
The Program
Coordinator/Manager works collaboratively with staff, families, and community partners to support children’s development, maintain a safe and welcoming environment, and ensure the program operates in accordance with Tl’azt’en Nation policies, procedures, and Code of Ethics.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain licensing regulations in the community care and Assisted living act through Northern Health, Child Care Licensing Regulations, and the Director of Licensing Standards of Practice in childcare facilities.
- Supervise, support, guide and provide leadership to daycare staff.
- Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and cognitive development needs of each child.
- Plan and implement special events, workshops, meetings, and information sessions for the program.
- Develop and plan culturally appropriate programs and activities.
- Responsible for constant supervision, safety and wellbeing of all staff and children at Sum Yaz Daycare.
- Perform other related duties as required by supervisor and/or manager.
- Abide by Tl’azt’en Nation policies & procedures and Code of Ethics.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Current Early Childhood Education license to practice
- Infant/Toddler and Special Needs Certificate
- Valid Childcare, First Aid and CPR
- Criminal Record Check- Vulnerable Section
- Immunizations and medical clearance
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and clean drivers’ abstract
- Experience in early childhood development and childcare essential
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills, supportive and advocacy skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of the team
- Maintains the confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Program Development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook
Pay: $45.00-$55.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:
- Fort St James, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
- Early childhood education: 3 years (required)
Licence/Certification:
- Class 5 Licence (required)
- Early Childhood Education License (required)
- Infant & Toddler Educator Certificate (required)
- First Aid Certification (required)
- CPR Certification (required)
