Supervised Behaviour Therapist – Casual
SCRP Behavioural Services | Stittsville, Ontario
Casual | Flexible Schedule | In-Person & Community-Based
About SCRP Behavioural Services
SCRP Behavioural Services is an Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) service operating alongside Stittsville Carp Road Physiotherapy (SCRP), a locally owned and operated clinic serving the community since 2007.
Our behavioural services are built around four core values:
Support Collaboration Respect Progress
We provide individualized, evidence-based behavioural services designed to improve independence, meaningful functioning, participation, and overall quality of life.
Our goal is to apply behavioural science across a variety of populations and settings. In addition to traditional ABA services for children and adolescents, our team may support adults, older adults, individuals with injuries, developmental disabilities, and other behavioural or functional support needs.
The Position
We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Supervised Behaviour Therapist to join our growing team on a casual basis.
The Behaviour Therapist will provide direct behavioural services to clients under the supervision and clinical direction of a Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA) in accordance with the requirements and professional standards of the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO).
In addition to ongoing supervision, the Behaviour Therapist will also receive mentorship and support from our Supervised Behavioural Consultant.
This position is well suited for someone interested in gaining hands-on ABA experience while working within a supportive environment that emphasizes mentorship, professional development, collaboration, and high-quality client care.
Casual hours will vary depending on client needs, referrals, and therapist availability. SCRP Behavioural Services is currently in the development phase, and therefore it may take some time to get client referrals.
Responsibilities The Supervised Behaviour Therapist may:
- Provide 1:1 behavioural intervention and skill-building sessions with clients.
- Implement individualized treatment plans and Behaviour Support Plans as developed or approved through appropriate clinical supervision.
- Collect accurate behavioural and skill-acquisition data during sessions.
- Complete timely and professional clinical documentation and session notes.
- Implement behavioural strategies including reinforcement, prompting, shaping, task analysis,
environmental modifications, and other evidence-based procedures within their training and authorized scope.
- Support clients in developing functional, social, communication, daily living, independence, and participation skills.
- Work collaboratively with families, caregivers, Behaviour Consultants, the supervising RBA, and other members of the client's care team.
- Participate in clinical supervision, case discussions, team huddles, training, and mentorship.
- Identify changes, concerns, risks, or barriers and communicate them promptly to the appropriate clinician or supervisor.
- Maintain client confidentiality and follow organizational policies, ethical requirements, and applicable professional standards.
- Provide services in client homes, community, or organizational settings depending on client needs.
Qualifications
Required:
- Diploma or degree completed or in progress in Behavioural Science, Psychology, Autism and Behavioural Science, Developmental Services, Social Services, or a related field.
- Understanding of the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow behavioural protocols and clinical direction accurately.
- Ability to work independently while recognizing when consultation or supervisory support is required.
- Commitment to compassionate, person-centred, ethical, and evidence-based care.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to client locations within Ottawa and surrounding communities when required.
- Willingness to complete required background screening and organizational onboarding requirements.
Assets:
- Previous experience implementing ABA programs.
- Behavioural Science or Autism and Behavioural Science education.
- Experience working as a Behaviour Therapist, Instructor Therapist, Behavioural Technician, or similar role.
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, behavioural challenges, or complex support needs.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary or healthcare environments.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) or equivalent training.
Supervision & Mentorship All behavioural services requiring professional oversight are provided under an established supervision structure involving a Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA).
Supervised Behaviour Therapists are expected to actively participate in required clinical supervision and follow the clinical direction, limitations, and responsibilities established by the supervising RBA.
In addition to formal RBA supervision, SCRP Behavioural Services promotes ongoing team mentorship, education, huddles, and career development. These opportunities are intended to strengthen clinical skills and collaboration and do not replace the formal supervision responsibilities of the RBA.
