About Brightway

Brightway Montessori Academy is a newly opened childcare centre near Yonge & Eglinton.

We’ve created a calm, nurturing Montessori environment where children feel safe, capable, and at home. Our space is modern, natural, thoughtfully designed, and intentionally peaceful—more “exhale” and less “overstimulated.”

We serve infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children in a respectful, child-centred environment.

The Role

We’re looking for dependable and adaptable Supply Early Childhood Assistants to provide classroom coverage when regular staff members are absent or additional support is required.

This is a casual, on-call position with shifts based on the school’s needs. You may support our Infant, Toddler, or Casa classrooms depending on your experience and the coverage required.

You do not need to be a Registered Early Childhood Educator. However, previous experience working as an ECA or classroom assistant in a licensed childcare setting is required.

What You’ll Do

- Support educators in providing secure, attentive, and nurturing care
- Follow established classroom schedules and routines
- Maintain active supervision of children
- Assist with meals, diapering, toileting, rest periods, transitions, and outdoor play
- Support classroom activities and Montessori work periods
- Encourage independence through calm and respectful guidance
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and prepared classroom environment
- Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and licensing requirements
- Communicate professionally with educators, management, children, and families
- Adapt between classrooms and age groups when needed





Who You Are You’re reliable, calm, attentive, and able to join an established classroom while maintaining its routines.

You’re also

- Experienced as an ECA or classroom assistant in a licensed childcare setting
- Comfortable working with infants, toddlers, and/or preschool-aged children
- Familiar with active supervision, childcare routines, and positive behaviour guidance
- Able to follow classroom plans and take direction from lead educators
- Dependable and available for occasional or short-notice coverage
- Patient, professional, team-oriented, and respectful
- Interested in Montessori or respectful, child-led approaches to childcare

Requirements

- Previous experience working in a licensed childcare setting
- Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check
- Required health assessment and immunization documentation
- Eligibility to work in Canada
- Ability to provide professional references

An ECA diploma and previous Montessori experience are assets but are not required.

Position Details

- Casual/on-call employment
- No guaranteed weekly hours
- Shifts may vary in length and fall between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday
- Some shifts may be offered on short notice
- Opportunities may arise for additional hours or longer-term coverage
