The Seasonal Worker is responsible for grounds maintenance at municipal parks and buildings, operating various small implements, attachments, mowers, and hand tools related to turf and sports field maintenance. Other duties include preparing soil and transplanting foliage, weeding, watering plants, and setting up and cleanup of parks for outdoor events and/or festivals.
This is a temporary position with an anticipated end date of November 27, 2026.
Requirements
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform tasks related to turf and trail maintenance.
- Operate all related implements, tractors, lawn equipment, power trimmers, and manual hand tools.
- Cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
- Weeding, cleaning, and watering of flower beds in parks, and high traffic areas.
- Set up and clean-up of parks for festivals and/or events.
- Perform general park maintenance such as sanitation, cleaning, painting, and other related maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ontario Grade 12 Graduation Diploma or equivalent
- Hold and maintain a valid Class "G" driver's license
- Minimum of one (1) year previous related experience
Qualifications Considered Assets
- Two (2) year Landscape Horticulture Diploma, or equivalent
- Tractor Safety
- Chainsaw Safety
- Class "DZ" driver's license
- Ministry of Transportation - Book 7
- First Aid/CPR
Working Conditions
- Duties shall primarily be performed outdoors in all weather conditions
- Travel within the Town to various locations
- Operation of a motor vehicle
- Manual dexterity to use hand tools, power equipment, tractors, etc.
- Safety equipment will be required (i.e. safety shoes, glasses/goggles, gloves, vest, hard hat, hearing protection, etc.)
Hours of Work
- Primary hours of work are Sunday to Saturday, days and afternoons (40 hours per week)
- Overtimes as necessary
Physical Requirements
- Physical work workplace requiring extended periods of walking, standing, sitting, bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, driving, and varying levels of noise
