Position Summary:

The Tourism Coordinator leads the implementation of destination marketing, visitor engagement, and tourism promotion initiatives under the Dauphin - Adventure From Here On Out place brand, developed in partnership with the City of Dauphin and Rural Municipality (RM) of Dauphin.

The Tourism Coordinator reports directly to the City's Economic Development Manager. The position works collaboratively with tourism operators, accommodations, event organizers, community organizations, and regional and provincial partners to promote Dauphin and the surrounding area as a compelling destination to visit, stay, and play.

This position required a strong understanding of the role of destination marketing organizations (DMOs), emerging social media and travel trends, and the factors influencing visitor travel decisions. The position requires extensive knowledge of the destination's primary attractions - known within the place brand as the "Boulders" - and uses these signature attractions as the foundation for developing itineraries, supporting tourism operators, and strengthening Dauphin's position within Manitoba's tourism sector.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Destination Marketing and Place Brand Management

- Enhance the Dauphin – Adventure From Here On Out destination marketing strategy and place brand.
- Promote the place brand across its intended geographic region, recognizing that the destination extends beyond the municipal boundaries of the City of Dauphin and RM of Dauphin.
- Work collaboratively with neighbouring municipalities to identify destination marketing priorities and opportunities.
- Maintain a consistent and engaging destination brand across campaigns, digital platforms, publications, signage, merchandise, and visitor materials.
- Develop marketing campaigns highlighting Dauphin’s attractions, festivals, cultural experiences, four-season outdoor recreation, culinary offerings, and proximity to Riding Mountain National Park and the region’s provincial parks.
- Promote the destination’s primary attractions—our “Boulders”—while connecting them to smaller attractions, businesses, events, and experiences throughout the community and surrounding area.
- Position Dauphin as both a destination and a regional hub from which visitors can explore the broader Parkland region.
- Ensure destination marketing reflects the diversity, cultures, heritage, and welcoming character of the region while supporting emerging tourism sectors such as Indigenous tourism, trail-based tourism, and experiential travel.
- Prepare an annual tourism marketing budget, process invoices, and prepare financial reports as required.
- Represent the City and Tourism Dauphin at tourism conferences, trade shows, regional tourism meetings, and industry networking events.
- Maintain regular communication with local tourism operators, accommodations, attractions, restaurants, and event organizers to identify needs, opportunities, and emerging tourism issues.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with Travel Manitoba, Parks Canada, neighbouring municipalities, tourism operators, Indigenous communities, and regional organizations to advance shared tourism initiatives.

2. Website, Digital Marketing,

and Content Creation

- Maintain and regularly update the official Tourism Dauphin website, tourismdauphin.ca.
- Ensure website information is accurate, current, accessible, visually engaging, and useful to visitors throughout the trip-planning process.
- Maintain accurate listings for attractions, accommodations, restaurants, events, recreation opportunities, and visitor services.
- Manage Tourism Dauphin’s social media channels and other visitor-facing digital platforms.
- Work with professional photographers, videographers, and production companies to create content and stock media.
- Develop original and engaging content, including photography, short-form video, stories, itineraries, advertisements, and promotional copy.
- Develop and maintain a content calendar aligned with tourism seasons, the destination’s Boulders, community events, and marketing campaigns.
- Monitor social media, tourism, and travel trends and adapt campaigns to changing visitor interests and online behaviours.
- Engage with online audiences and respond to visitor questions and tourism-related inquiries.
- Maintain accurate tourism information across relevant online directories, partner websites, and third-party travel platforms.
- Encourage tourism operators and businesses to participate in destination marketing initiatives, campaigns, and collaborative promotions.

3. Visitor Experience and Destination Development

- Maintain a robust working knowledge of local and regional attractions, accommodations, restaurants, events, trails, cultural assets, businesses, and visitor services.
- Develop itineraries and visitor resources that use the Boulders as anchors while encouraging visitors to explore additional experiences, businesses, and communities.
- Identify gaps in the visitor experience and recommend opportunities to strengthen Dauphin’s overall tourism offering.
- Support the coordination and delivery of visitor information services, including maintaining visitor information locations, brochures, and signage.
- Order promotional materials and work with local designers and merchants for the development and implementation of authentic local promotional products, including apparel, merchandise, and souvenirs.

4. Administrative and Committee Support

- Provide administrative support for economic development and tourism-related committees, working groups, and meetings, as required.
- Coordinate meeting arrangements, prepare and distribute agendas and supporting materials, attend meetings, record minutes, and assist with follow-up on action items.
- Maintain accurate committee records, correspondence, and other tourism-related administrative documentation.
- Administer the Adventure Fund, the City's tourism grant program that supports local organizations in attracting and delivering new events that generate overnight visitation and economic impact,

including coordinating applications and supporting the Sports Tourism Committee’s review process.
