Job Overview The Truck Chassis Fitter is responsible for fitting and assembling fabricated components onto truck chassis during the construction of HydroVac and vacuum trucks. This includes positioning and aligning components according to engineering drawings, verifying fitment and dimensions, identifying discrepancies, and working closely with welders and production personnel. The position also involves disassembling completed assemblies prior to painting and preparing components for final production.

Key Responsibilities

- Fit and position fabricated components onto truck chassis according to blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Measure, align, level, and verify component placement to ensure proper fitment and dimensional accuracy.
- Temporarily install and assemble components using hand tools, power tools, clamps, jigs, and measuring equipment.
- Identify fitment, dimensional, or fabrication issues and communicate them to the appropriate production personnel.
- Work closely with welders to ensure fabricated components fit and assemble correctly.
- Inspect completed fit-ups for accuracy, quality, and conformity with drawings.
- Disassemble truck assemblies and components as required prior to painting.
- Keep track of components and hardware during disassembly to ensure efficient reassembly.
- Assist with identifying and resolving assembly issues throughout the production process.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and applicable workplace requirements.

Qualifications





- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of how components fit and function together.
- Previous experience in truck assembly, fabrication, manufacturing, mechanical assembly, or a related environment is an asset.
- Experience working with fabricated steel, stainless, and aluminum components is an asset.
- Welding experience is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding symbols.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of how components fit and function together.
- Ability to accurately use measuring equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to identify problems and communicate them effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
- Ability to adapt to changing production requirements.
- Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting, positioning, and handling materials and components.
