Homer Animal Hospital is a privately owned, growing veterinary clinic in the heart of Yaletown. We’re looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our full-time team.

Our VAs work closely together and share responsibilities across the hospital, with everyone contributing to patient care, client communication, and the day-to-day flow of the clinic. We’re looking for someone who is dependable, adaptable, and enjoys being part of a team.

The Role

This is a hands-on, varied position supporting both the front and back of the hospital. Responsibilities include:

- Working alongside veterinarians and the VA team with appointments, treatments, and procedures
- Handling and safely restraining cats and dogs
- Monitoring anesthesia during procedures
- Assisting with patient care, nail trims, medications, and discharges
- Reviewing home-care instructions with clients
- Supporting surgical and treatment areas
- Cleaning, stocking, and maintaining an organized hospital
- Answering phones, booking appointments, and assisting with client communication
- Pitching in wherever needed to keep the hospital running smoothly

We're Looking For

- 1–2+ years of veterinary hospital experience
- Experience with Avimark and IDEXX is an asset
- Comfortable handling both cats and dogs
- Confident with the hands-on responsibilities of a Veterinary Assistant
- Reliable, organized, and adaptable




- Robust communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to move between patient care, reception, and general hospital support
- Flexible availability for mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends
